Prior to the event, Woozi hinted at his upcoming cover by using Hanni’s famous catchphrase on Weverse, further fueling excitement among fans. His username at the time, “NewWoozi,” was a playful nod to the group NewJeans, indicating his anticipation and preparation for the performance. After learning about Woozi’s cover of “How Sweet,” NewJeans member Hanni responded positively, expressing her appreciation through Phoning, a communication platform for fans and idols.

Woozi Keeps His Promise to Moonbin by Releasing ‘What Kind of Future’

Let it be known that Woozi of SEVENTEEN always keeps his promises. With the release of “What Kind of Future,” he kept a promise he made to the late idol Moonbin. When the ASTRO member passed away on April 19, 2023, fans and fellow artists, including Woozi, were devastated.

Needing a place to express their grief, netizens flocked to the last post on Moonbin’s Instagram and left many heartfelt comments under it. On April 25, six days after Moonbin’s passing, Woozi wrote a comment of his own in which he opened up about how much Moonbin meant to him.

“My Binnie, ha. I miss you so much. It wasn’t even more than a week ago that we said we should find the time to dance together, and you said that I was definitely your No. 1. I can still see the giant smile you had on your face as you told me that. But this world sucks, doesn’t it? Ha… I don’t even know why a cool kid like you wanted to be close to someone like me. I’m sorry I was such a shy hyung who couldn’t express things quite well. You were really such a cool dongsaeng. How nice would it have been if I had told you the same good things you told me? I’m so ashamed of myself for not having been able to express myself to you all that well. Dear Bin, you gave me so much strength. You’ve always been so supportive of my music and my dance. You always had great anticipation for my works and loved them, too. And though I always played it cool because I felt shy, you have no idea how happy you made me feel. Haha. I’m finally telling you how I actually felt, you punk.”

Woozi was true to his word

He also wrote about “What Kind of Future” and how much Moonbin loved it. His words reflected affection and gratitude for Moonbin, who had always supported his musical endeavors.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a dongsaeng who liked me as much as you did, and I doubt I’ll ever meet another like you in the future. That’s why you’re even more precious to me, and my love for you keeps growing. But now, I’m at a loss. You know the song that you kept asking about and begged me to release so you could listen to it whenever? I’ll bring it to you on your birthday. I’ll fight the company if I have to, but I promise, no matter what, I’ll put it out for you. You know, I finished all the bibimmyeon you gave me for my birthday. Haha. You should’ve given me a chance to give you a birthday gift too, you little rascal! I’m sorry there isn’t much else I could do for you as your hyung. I love you. I cherish you, and I’m grateful for you. In my heart, you’ll always and forever be the coolest dongsaeng I’ve been grateful to have. Let’s be happy now, Bin. I love you.”

True to his word, Woozi released “What Kind of Future” on Moonbin’s birthday. The song made an impressive debut at No. 14 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart three hours after its release. On January 31, it debuted at No. 195 on the MelOn Weekly Chart with three days of tracking. By February 3, it soared all the way to No. 1 on the same chart.

A touching tribute

“What Kind of Future” is one of Woozi‘s most personal compositions. It’s about a painful period in his life. Its meaning is open to interpretation—some see it as Woozi talking to a former lover, while others view it as him conversing with his younger self. Initially, Woozi vowed to perform it only once and never to release it. However, he ended up performing it three times—twice during SEVENTEEN’s IDEAL CUT tour in 2018, and once during BUMZU’s STUDIO concert in 2020. Woozi’s decision to drop the song on Moonbin’s birthday, January 26, was inspired by how much the latter loved it and pushed for its official release.

Woozi’s fulfillment of his promise to Moonbin is a touching tribute to their friendship. It honors the special bond they shared and keeps Moonbin’s memory alive through music. – K-Pop News Writer

NCT’s Taeyong and SEVENTEEN’s Woozi Show Off Adorable Friendship

In the world of K-pop, where talents and friendships often flourish behind the scenes, fans are always eager for glimpses into the personal lives of their favorite idols. Recently, NCT 127‘s Taeyong surprised fans during a live Instagram session by introducing an unexpected guest: SEVENTEEN‘s Woozi. 

As this is the first time that the two idols were seen together, fans couldn’t help but be curious  as to how these two K-pop powerhouses came to know each other. According to Taeyong they became friends because of their mutual passion for creating music. “We became close because we both liked composing music,” he said.

 

Moreover, the NCT 127 leader didn’t shy away from expressing his admiration for Woozi’s capabilities as a producer. During the live session, he revealed that he played some of his work for the SEVENTEEN member, who provided valuable feedback that boosted his confidence. Another proof of their tight friendship was that Taeyong was able to listen to the demo of “God of Music.” 

 

Throughout the live session, the two idols were also wary about dropping spoilers for their still-unannounced activities. At one point, Woozi told Taeyong that SEVENTEEN has imposed a fine for any member who drops spoilers. To which, the SM Entertainment artist was quickly taken aback. Which left Woozi quickly clarifying that it’s more of an inside joke within the group than a strict policy. 

Taeyong x Woozi collaboration?

Aside from the two idols sharing snippets from their daily lives, fans couldn’t help but adore the unexpected friendship between the two. At the start of the Instagram live, the “Super” singer mentioned that it was his first time appearing on someone else’s live stream, and the “Fact Check” singer expressed his honor at having him as a guest.

Moreover, Woozi also treated viewers to a dance to Taeyong’s solo track “Shalala.”  To which, the NCT member suggested that they film a TikTok dance challenge together, preferably their group’s latest comeback “Fact Check“.

And the two did film several dance challenge, proving their genuine bond! On Friday, October 27, they released one video for NCT 127′s “Fact Check“ and two videos for SEVENTEEN’s “God of Music” dance challenge. One video showed them doing the track’s point choreography, while another showed them sitting down and dancing adorably. 

Apart from dance challenges, Taeyong also mentioned during the live session his desire to receive a song from Woozi tailored to his style. To which the SEVENTEEN producer agreed, promising he’ll create something cool for his hyung. 

Now that they’ve kept their promise of doing a TikTok dance challenge, fans are eagerly anticipating a music collaboration between the two. Nevertheless, it’s safe to say that their musical collaborations and interactions will continue to be a source of joy and inspiration for many of their fans.

‘Suchwita’ Host Suga Calls SEVENTEEN’s Woozi His Younger Brother

It finally happened! BTS’ Suga and SEVENTEEN’s Woozi got together for the latest episode of “Suchwita” to beat the doppelganger allegations. Lee Jihoon impressed Min Yoongi so much that the “Haegeum” rapper called him his “younger brother.”

In “Suchwita” Episode 10, Suga hyped up the arrival of his next guest. The BTS rapper claimed that “so many people are looking forward to seeing this two-shot.” This is a reference to the similarities between him and Woozi, who shares similar features and is also a gifted producer like Suga.

When Woozi arrived, he presented Suga with gifts and they immediately addressed the elephant in the room. Suga revealed that fellow BTS member RM had brought up a common belief about doppelgangers and worried about their meeting.

“My members kept asking me who the next guest on ‘Suchwita’ was so when I told them it was you, Woozi, RM said ‘Won’t you die if you two meet?’ I asked why, and he said ‘You two are doppelgangers, aren’t you?’” Suga said.

Min Yoongi also admitted to playing up the similarities between him and Woozi. He confirmed he had their hair styled similarly for the “Haegeum” TikTok challenge video they did together.

It was immediately clear that the two had a great connection. Suga pointed out that Woozi feels like family to him.

“Although I don’t have a younger brother, he’s like a younger brother. I feel like I’m looking into a mirror. I can see myself in you when I was around 16 or 17,” Suga said.

Woozi quickly agreed, saying, Suga “feels like an older brother too.” Needless to say, ARMYs and CARATs are already looking forward to a possible collaboration between the two.

The latest episode of “Suchwita” is out now. Suga is currently on the road for his first world tour the ‘Suga Agust D Tour’. Meanwhile, Woozi is promoting SEVENTEEN’s new album ‘FML’.

Woozi Discusses Writing Process and Producing Music For SEVENTEEN

Woozi is opening up about his writing process and the importance of producing music for his group. The SEVENTEEN vocalist also discussed what it is like dealing with fellow members. Lee Jihoon revealed what Hoshi and Vernon are like as artists from a producer’s point of view.

SEVENTEEN members Hoshi, Woozi, and Vernon recently featured in a stunning pictorial for Vogue Korea. In the accompanying interview, Lee Jihoon admitted he has an odd writing process.

“I have bad handwriting, so I write memos on my phone or computer instead of taking analog notes,” he said. “[I wonder], ‘What state was I in at the time to have written this?’ It doesn’t feel like me. I’m glad to leave [notes] like this. It’s like scribbling about me.”

Woozi also confessed that writing on his own is comforting for him.

“It’s embarrassing and embarrassing to say, but it’s definitely there. I am comforted by the lyrics I wrote. People will laugh when they see it, but it is a very moving moment for me. In fact, it often happens,” he said with a laugh.

Woozi Describes SEVENTEEN’s Vernon and Hoshi as Artists

The leader of SEVENTEEN’s Vocal Team also revealed that each member has their own distinct quality as an artist. He discussed Vernon and Hoshi in particular, confirming that he believes they are unique in their own way.

“Vernon is like a rock. No matter what part he is assigned, I believe that he will pull it off. He is sturdy, reliable, and makes me feel relieved,” Lee Jihoon said.

Of Kwon Soonyoung, Woozi said, “Hoshi is intense. As a producer, he keeps raising the expectations for the player. But Hoshi shows how he goes a step further than that. That is how much he is overflowing with passion. I admire him.”

SEVENTEEN is currently promoting their latest EP ‘FML’ and its two lead singles “F*ck My Life” and “Super”.
