Guitar God: ENHYPEN’s Jay and His Relationship With the Instrument

ENHYPEN‘s Jay has become popular not just for his dancing and singing, but also for his amazing guitar skills. His guitars have been his constant companions for almost four years. Jay’s love for the guitar and rock music has always been a defining aspect of his identity, both as an individual and as a member of ENHYPEN.

The FATE World Tour was a significant milestone for the boy group, and Jay‘s guitar playing led to a standout moment. ENHYPEN presented acoustic unit stages during their two-day show in Seoul. Jake, Jay, Sunghoon, and Sunoo mesmerized the audience with their performance of “TFW (That Feeling When)” where Jay showcased his incredible talent on the guitar. He revealed that he drew inspiration from SUGA of BTS. His sunbae’s guitar playing during the D-DAY concert went over big with fans, which motivated Jay to improve his own skills.

Demonstrating his dedication, Jay put in a tremendous effort to condition his guitar before taking the stage. He revealed, “I oiled it, put essence on it, changed its strings, and even decorated it with the members’ signatures. My guitar received more treatment than me.” His dedication to his guitar is evident in the way he cares for it.

Jay stole the spotlight

[4K] 230610 WEVERSE CON ATTENTION, PLEASE! – ENHYPEN JAY FOCUS

The Weverse Con Festival in 2023 was another landmark event where Jay‘s guitar skills shone. The group mesmerized the audience with energetic dance routines and powerful vocals, but it was Jay‘s electrifying guitar solo that really stole the spotlight. Jay‘s musical prowess was on full display, and ENGENEs were amazed.

Interestingly, Jay revealed that he was the one who suggested incorporating a guitar performance into their set, highlighting his involvement in the creative process. Videos of him playing the guitar went viral, generating excitement on social media.

Jay genuinely loves the guitar

Jay has a genuine love for the guitar and a genuine passion for rock music, which sets him apart as an idol with a unique perspective on music. “I have a lot of hobbies, but the one that’s grabbed me lately is electric guitar,” he told Weverse Magazine.

With two guitars, one at home and another at the label’s studio, he’s able to practice whenever he finds time. It hasn’t been easy to do that lately, though. He added, “I didn’t feel confident playing electric guitar before because I didn’t have enough time to practice, but I’m picking it up again.”

His approach to selecting a guitar reveals his thoughtful approach to music. For now, Jay recognizes his current skill level and chose an all-rounder guitar that can adapt to various genres. “I tried out a few guitars that looked and sounded just the way I like. From there, I chose the one that sounded the best and loudest.”

Not content with mastering just one instrument, Jay’s aspirations extend to learning other musical tools as well. “If I end up getting decent at the guitar, I’ll explore some other instruments as well. I want to learn bass, drums, and piano. I’d also like to learn the harmonica and saxophone just for my own enjoyment,” he shared.

The allure of the past

He expressed a growing interest in rock music, which shines through when he talks about the band Oasis. He identifies with the positive attitude and hopeful messages conveyed by Oasis. He shared, “I feel uplifted when I listen to songs that have hopeful lyrics, like ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out.’ Of course, the music sounds good, too, but I think the messages are cool and inspiring.”

Jay‘s appreciation for rock doesn’t end with modern interpretations. He delves into the charm of older rock music, recognizing the timeless appeal it holds. “These days a lot of music’s influenced by rock but reinterpreted in a modern way, and that evolves into whole new genres. I listen to music that dates all the way back to the 1950s. I think what makes old music so captivating is the vibe and the romance,” he explained.

The allure of the past and its unique charm resonate deeply with Jay. He expressed his longing for a time machine. “I’ve wished I could hop in a time machine and go back to some of Oasis’ concerts,” Jay shared. “There’s something completely different and uniquely special about things from the old days. I have the live LP from Oasis’ Knebworth concert, and every time I listen to it I wish I could just go back to that time.”

Jay is truly a guitar god

Jay‘s relationship with the guitar is more than just a hobby; it’s a reflection of his soul. His love for rock music, his dedication to his craft, and his respect for his instruments paint a picture of a young artist deeply connected to his musical roots.

His performances at the FATE World Tour and Weverse Con Festival are just the beginning of what promises to be a successful journey. ENHYPEN‘s Jay is truly a guitar god, and his relationship with the instrument is a beautiful symphony that enchants fans worldwide. – K-Pop News Writer

Five Ex-LOONA Members to Redebut Under New Name: Meet “Loossemble”

In a thrilling development that has captured the attention of K-pop fans worldwide, former LOONA members Gowon, Hyeju, Hyunjin, Vivi, and Yeojin are set to debut as a new group called Loossemble under CTDENM. Meanwhile, other ex-members of LOONA are charting new paths with Modhaus as Odd Eye Circle.

CTDENM has announced that the five members will soon be debuting as Loossemble, a portmanteau of LOONA and “assemble,” symbolizing the gathering of LOONA members. The group recently held a fan event called Orbit Sports Day at the Jamsil Student Gymnasium, marking their first official appearance under their new company. LOONA’s Chuu and Yves also made a surprise appearance at the event, adding to the excitement.

It was after that event that CTDENM announced the girls would be debuting as Loossemble. The announcement initially sparked some confusion regarding the spelling of the group’s name in English. However, members Hyunjin and Vivi clarified on the fan messaging app Fromm that their new group would be called Loossemble. The news of Loossemble‘s upcoming debut comes shortly after LOONA sub-unit Odd Eye Circle made a comeback under Modhaus.

Where are the other LOONA members?

On the other side, Modhaus recently announced the signing of Haseul, the latest addition to their roster. In a press release, the agency said, “We will do our best to help Haseul show off her talents and meet with her fans in many ways.” With Haseul’s arrival, Modhaus now has five former LOONA members, all of whom will be part of their ARTMS project. This initiative aims to debut different units consisting of former LOONA members.

The first unit to make a comeback is Odd Eye Circle, comprising Choerry, Jinsoul, and Kim Lip. The trio initially debuted in 2017 with their mini album Mix&Match. They are gearing up to release a new album and kick off their first Europe tour in August.

LOONA, a 12-piece group, debuted in December 2018 and quickly rose to stardom. However, due to financial difficulties and disputes between its company BlockBerry Creative and the artists, the girl group disbanded. All of its members have since joined new agencies after successfully terminating their exclusive contracts with BlockBerry Creative.

A fresh start with Loossemble

The re-debut of these former LOONA members under new agencies signifies a fresh start. Fans eagerly anticipate the music and performances that Loossemble and Odd Eye Circle will bring to the K-pop scene. In a recent interview with NME, Jinsoul shared: “There’s definitely a possibility for us to keep releasing music as Odd Eye Circle. But we also have Haseul and Heejin being part of our ARTMS project, and the new units and combinations that can be created from that remains to be seen.”

As the K-pop scene buzzes with excitement, the former members of LOONA are ready to write a new chapter in their careers. With Loossemble‘s debut on the horizon and Odd Eye Circle‘s return, the legacy of LOONA continues to thrive, promising to bring fresh music and performances to fans worldwide. – K-Pop News Writer

Eat and Drink the Jeon Jungkook Way With These Recipes

BTS‘s Jungkook has been making waves not only in the music industry but also in the culinary world. Recently, he tweaked his viral Buldak Mayo Perilla Oil Makguksu recipe, a yummy buckwheat noodle dish he introduced in April. The original recipe quickly went viral, with fans across the globe cooking it and posting their reviews. However, Jungkook‘s culinary journey didn’t stop there; he made some tweaks to the recipe, making it even more delicious.

https://twitter.com/_RapperJK/status/1685851203005976576

The new version of the makguksu recipe doesn’t differ significantly from the original, but Jungkook believes that the latest one has a tastier edge. He decreased the quantity of perilla oil and added dark soy sauce, ground pepper, and fried sesame seeds. The ingredients for Jungkook‘s new Buldak Mayo Perilla Oil Makguksu include three tablespoons of perilla oil, two tablespoons of Cham sauce, one tablespoon of dark soy sauce, one tablespoon of Buldak sauce, one tablespoon of Buldak mayo sauce, one egg yolk, a little bit of ground pepper, and finally, some fried sesame seeds to give the dish a nutty taste.

Jungkook‘s creativity doesn’t stop at the ingredients he uses. He also encourages fans to add what they like to the recipe, such as onions, garlic, or red chili flakes. However, he emphasizes that some seasoned laver, also known as seaweed, is a must as a garnish. He even shared a tip for the best way to enjoy the dish, stating that the noodles should be as cold as possible while eating.

The culinary creations of Chef Jungkook

But Jungkook‘s culinary talents extend beyond traditional Korean dishes. He also shared the secret to his signature highball cocktail during his appearance on SUGA’s Suchwita. He begins by chilling a glass by stirring ice in it. Then, he adds a shot or more of whisky, according to preference. The rest of the glass is filled with sparkling water, followed by a squeeze of lemon into the drink. The lemon can also be placed on top as a garnish. Finally, all the ingredients are mixed together to produce the perfect blend.

Jungkook‘s obvious love for food and drink added yet another layer to his multifaceted personality. His willingness to share these recipes with ARMY reflects his down-to-earth nature and connection with his audience. As fans eagerly await his mini album set to release in November, they can enjoy these delightful recipes and experience a taste of his world. Whether it’s that revamped makguksu or his own highball cocktail, Jungkook‘s culinary creations offer insight into his creativity and love for food and drink. – K-Pop News Writer

BTS’ V Dabbles in Nail Art for the First Time: How You Can Do It Too

Kim Taehyung, also known as V from the world-renowned K-pop group BTS, recently took to the fan community platform Weverse to share his newest style exploration: nail art. His unexpected reveal sparked a conversation about the growing trend of nail art for men. This trend breaks down gender stereotypes and encourages men to embrace this creative outlet.

V‘s venture into nail art was not a solitary decision. It was a first for him, and he explained that he had his nails painted for a specific filming project. His inspiration to try this came from his fellow BTS member, j-hope, who has been rocking painted nails for a while. His hyung’s unique style seems to have encouraged Taehyung to give it a try.

“For the first time in my life, I got my nails done like Hobi-hyung. I tried it because I think it’ll be my first and maybe last time doing it,” V explained in a live broadcast. “I was filming something that I needed to have my nails done for. So I didn’t get it removed, I just got the coating. They said it doesn’t last forever, it only lasts three weeks.”

This fresh look was a delightful surprise for fans, who were glad to learn that Taehyung was busy with something, even if he couldn’t tell them much about it. Although the live stream was brief, fans were thrilled that V still made an effort to connect with them. The five minutes he spent talking to them were enough to lift ARMY’s spirits and brighten their day.

The nail art V showcased was minimalist, featuring red lines and dots, with a sad face on his index finger. This simple yet striking design is a perfect example of how men can experiment with nail art.

Get nail art just like V

So how can men get started with nail art? The key is to keep it simple. Solid colors, especially black, are a good starting point. You can also experiment with different colors across different nails. As you get more comfortable, you can try minimalist nail art designs like dots, lines, or French tips.

One of the trendiest men’s nail art styles is abstract or geometric. This can include wavy lines or shapes like circles and triangles, often done in black or white. Nail stickers, featuring small, bold designs like words, smiley faces, or flames, are also a popular choice. Check out some of the designs the K-pop group P1Harmony tried when they painted each other’s nails for a YouTube video.

Gold nails are another trend gaining attention. They mimic flashy gold bling, adding a touch of class to men’s nail art. These are often more elaborate, with some featuring 3D elements, moving away from the minimalist style. Remember, the sky’s the limit when it comes to men’s nail art. The only commonality we’ve noticed is nail length and shape—most men who wear nail polish do so with short, trimmed nails.

Men’s nail art is a trend that’s beginning to take off, and it’s about time. It has nothing to do with biological sex or sexuality. It’s a fashion statement that shows a man’s confidence and willingness to defy gender norms. So why not try it? After all, if V of BTS can do it, so can you. – K-Pop News Writer

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo Spotted Wearing T-Shirt That Supports the LGBTQIA+ Community

BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo recently made a fashion statement that goes beyond simply looking good. She was spotted wearing a limited-edition t-shirt from Courrèges, a renowned French fashion house. But it wasn’t just an ordinary t-shirt. It was a symbol of support for the LGBTQIA+ community, with all profits from its sales going to a noble cause.

The t-shirt is from the fashion house’s Over the Rainbow collection, which celebrates diversity and inclusivity. This collection is part of the Spring-Summer 24 line, which in turn is known for its bold designs and vibrant colors, reflecting the spirit of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Courrèges worked with Centre Pompidou on the Over the Rainbow exhibit. This exhibit aims to shed light on the artistic contributions made by the LGBTQIA+ community since the early 20th century. This collaboration is a testament to the fashion house’s commitment to social issues, particularly those related to LGBTQIA+ rights.

The profits from the sales of the limited-edition t-shirt will be donated to ARDHIS. It’s a French organization that advocates for the rights of foreign LGBTQIA+ individuals. ARDHIS gives advice, support, and walks people through various administrative procedures to help them obtain a durable right to stay in France.

Jisoo’s allyship in action

Jisoo has always supported the LGBTQIA+ community. One of the most profound statements she made was asserting that gender doesn’t matter, a sentiment that resonated within the community. This statement not only showcased her open-mindedness but also her understanding of the fluidity of gender identities.

Jisoo‘s support for the LGBTQIA+ community is also reflected in her fashion choices. During Pride Month, she was seen wearing rainbow boots. Furthermore, in the music video for “As If It’s Your Last,” both she and Lisa sported nails painted in the colors of the pride flag.

She has also donned pieces from various brands’ Pride collections, including Adidas and Balenciaga. Jisoo even wore a shirt featuring a photo of lesbian feminist Sandra Brant in BLACKPINK’s music video for “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du.” She has said that there’s “no gender in clothes,” and has been seen wearing many pieces from menswear, further proving her statement.

Jisoo goes beyond fashion too

Her support extends to media representation as well. Jisoo openly shared that she was watching “Mine,” a Korean drama with a lesbian storyline. She also recommended books centered on queer characters to BLINKs, BLACKPINK‘s loyal fanbase. This showed her interest in diverse narratives and helps to normalize and promote LGBTQIA+ representation in media.

Jisoo also made a significant decision during the production of their first title track. The song was originally titled “OPPAYAH,” which translates to “looking for an oppa.” However, Jisoo changed the title to “BOOMBAYAH,” instead. She removed the gender-specific term, emphasizing her belief in gender neutrality.

A Media Outlet’s Exclusive Report Sheds Light on HYBE’s K-Pop Trainees

HYBE, the powerhouse corporation behind the global sensation BTS, is making waves in the Korean music industry for its diverse trainee pool. Nearly one-third of its trainees hail from outside Korea, a testament to the industry’s global appeal and the talent it attracts.

The company, which houses eight music labels, confirmed that about 28% of its trainees aren’t from Korea. This figure emerged in response to a media inquiry, shedding light on the internationalization of the K-pop industry. However, HYBE clarified that doesn’t specifically aim to increase the number of foreign trainees. Instead, the company’s focus remains on discovering and nurturing talent, their nationality notwithstanding.

HYBE MULTI-LABEL AUDITION I Special message from HYBE Artists

HYBE’s roster of artists includes top acts like LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, SEVENTEEN, and Zico. LE SSERAFIM boasts a diverse lineup with several foreign members. Sakura and Kazuha, two of the group’s members, are Japanese. Another member, Yunjin, is Korean-American, having grown up in the United States.

SEVENTEEN, another popular group from HYBE, also features foreign members. The group includes two American members, Joshua from Los Angeles and Vernon from New York. Additionally, it has two Chinese members, Jun from Shenzhen and The8 from Liaoning.

Building a global trainee pool

The trend towards international trainees is not exclusive to HYBE. Other major K-pop agencies, like JYP Entertainment, SM Entertainment, and YG Entertainment, also scout talent globally. However, these agencies chose not to disclose their trainees’ nationality breakdown, citing confidentiality.

[Korea Festival 2020] Globalization of K-POP : History and Perspectives

The increasing diversity among K-pop trainees is a strategic move, says Lee Gyu-tag, an associate professor at George Mason University Korea specializing in K-pop globalization. He says agencies are casting a wider net through global auditions to expand their reach and appeal to a broader audience.

The strategy of including non-Korean members in K-pop bands has proven successful in the past. For instance, BLACKPINK, a popular K-pop group, includes Lisa, a Thai member. Similarly, EXO, another well-known group, had four Chinese members at its debut in 2012.

The K-pop industry is becoming increasingly global, with HYBE leading the way in trainee diversity. This trend not only reflects the industry’s worldwide appeal but also its commitment to nurturing talent, regardless of nationality. As K-pop continues to captivate audiences globally, it’s clear that the industry’s future will be as diverse as the music it produces. – K-Pop News Writer
