IZ*ONE Alum Honda Hitomi Announces Graduation From AKB48

On August 31, fans of the renowned J-pop supergroup AKB48 received a shock. Honda Hitomi, a beloved member and one of its superstars, announced her graduation from the group. She wrote, “I, Honda Hitomi, will graduate from AKB48. As the representative of Tochigi prefecture in Team 8, I have been in AKB48 for about 10 years now.”

“I served as the group’s center twice, as a member of Team 8. I was a member of IZ*ONE, and was given the chance to be a senbatsu member,” she continued. “With these experiences, I have grown day by day. I feel confident that all of this will serve as my foundation and illuminate my future. I’m grateful to Akimoto-sensei, who has helped me grow up to this point, to the fans who always support me, to the staff, to the members, and to everyone who has worked hard in their work. I was able to spend happy days with everyone.”

Furthermore, Hitomi conveyed her gratitude for the love she received during her time with AKB48. She mentioned, “I will be leaving such a blessed environment I am truly grateful for, but I will never forget the love I received from everyone. I will continue to challenge various things and expand my potential. The single that will be released on September 27 will be the last single I will participate in, so I will be participating in all the talk sessions that have been announced. Regarding graduation performances and such, we will let you know as soon as they are decided.”

According to an official blog post by AKB48, Hitomi‘s activities with the group will persist, including the Budokan concerts, handshake events, and online talk sessions until January 2024.

What will Hitomi do next?

IZ*ONE, where Hitomi was a member, carved a niche in the K-pop scene, amassing an international fanbase known as WIZONE. However, the group disbanded on April 29, 2021, after the expiration of their exclusive contract. Despite this, all the members, including Hitomi, continue to make their mark in the entertainment world.

Hitomi, a multifaceted talent, isn’t merely a singer and songwriter. She’s also an actress, model, and radio host. After IZ*ONE‘s disbandment, she returned to Japan and made a comeback with AKB48 with the song “Nemohamo Rumor.” Earlier this year, rumors circulated about Hitomi joining Mnet’s survival show Queendom Puzzle, but they were quickly debunked.

HONDA HITOMI IS BACK !!!!!

With her graduation from AKB48 on the horizon, speculations are rife about Hitomi joining former IZ*ONE bandmate Miyawaki Sakura at HYBE, the label behind global sensations like BTS.

As Hitomi embarks on this new chapter, fans eagerly await her next move, confident that her past experiences will guide her to even greater heights in the industry. – K-Pop News Writer

BTS’ RM Fires Back at Critics Saying He Disrespected Islam

BTSRM, recently took to a live broadcast to address various topics. He talked about many things, including a controversy he was involved in. Fans from around the world tuned in, eager to hear from their ult group’s leader.

RM began the session on a light note, expressing his joy at seeing a birthday ad dedicated to him. “It’s early, but still. I saw the birthday ad and I was very happy to see that!” he exclaimed. RM also talked about the new drama he’s watching—Netflix’s critically acclaimed black comedy-slash-thriller Mask Girl—and revealed that he only had one more episode left to watch. He also said he had seen the Disney/Pixar movie Elemental two times already and it tugged at his heartstrings both times.

He also shared that he had started tanning, but he’s been focusing on his body, not his face. He also mentioned spotting a beautiful rainbow, which he found less captivating than the ARMY watching his live. “What’s prettier than the rainbow is you all who’s watching this live,” he said with a chuckle.

He then hinted at being busy with a project. “I didn’t say I’m getting ready for the album, but I am getting ready for something!” he teased. Unfortunately, he remained tight-lipped about whatever it is he’s working on. All he said was, “It’s a serious project!”

RM talks Islam controversy

However, the mood shifted when RM addressed the allegations that he had insulted Islam via an old Instagram Story. “You guys keep saying I insulted a religion, but I didn’t. There was no intention or purpose to insult a religion I respect,” he firmly stated.

He emphasized his respect for all beliefs and religions and expressed his awareness of the ongoing discussions on SNS. “It’s a song, OK? I’m not apologizing. I’m 30 years old. I can express my truth. Please, a word is a word. Don’t assume! Believe my words,” he urged.

RM‘s frustration was palpable as he continued, “I know I can’t convince everyone, and some might say ‘Oh you’re lying,’ but I can’t lie, guys. I’m being honest.” He asked ARMY to trust him and have a heart, expressing how challenging it was to hold in his feelings amidst the controversy.

Wrapping up the session, RM reassured fans, “Guys, don’t worry. Just believe me, and I’ll show you what’s inside, okay.” He admitted his life has been filled with hurdles and obstacles, but remained optimistic about focusing on his path and not letting negativity deter him. He ended with a heartfelt message to ARMY: “Stay healthy. I hope everything around you will be fine. Bye! I’m going to work. Peace out!” – K-Pop News Writer

BTS’ Jungkook Surprises Fans by Opening Up on Stationhead

BTSJungkook, the golden maknae of the world-renowned K-pop group, recently surprised fans with a candid talk session on Stationhead. Fans logged on to the music streaming service expecting a fun listening party for “SEVEN,” scheduled for August 29 at 8:00 AM ET. They were thrown for a loop (pleasantly so, mind you) by the raw, unfiltered things Jungkook said when things got underway.

Jungkook began by addressing the elephant in the room: his upcoming material. “It’s nine thirty-six, but I have to be going at ten o’clock because I have another schedule after this,” he shared, hinting at the preparations for his solo comeback in November. He also hinted at wanting to do a Weverse live session, but said he may not be able to do that anytime soon.

“Although live broadcasts are my main thing, I’m going to be very busy preparing so many things,” he added, further fueling fans’ excitement. This revelation not only gave fans a glimpse into the hectic life of an international superstar but also teased the much-anticipated new music.

Cool as a cucumber

Despite the excitement surrounding his upcoming projects, Jungkook‘s humility shone through. Even as some technical glitches disrupted the session, he was as cool as a cucumber. When Stationhead’s comment section froze, he simply expressed how perplexed he was by what happened. But once the comments started pouring in again, he was quick to engage with those online. He answered questions and shared snippets of his life.

One ARMY’s comment stood out. When Jungkook expressed concern about all the work he has to do, a fan reassured the Korean superstar that he can do anything he sets his mind to. They said, “What are you afraid of? You’re Jungkook. You can do it well.” To which Jungkook candidly responded, “I’m just scared. Will I be able to do well?”

Jungkook also shared some exciting news about his official TikTok account, humorously adding, “I’m a TikToker now? I’ll try my best as a TikToker.” His words left fans eagerly awaiting content from the star on the popular platform.

This Stationhead session

In a heartwarming moment, Jungkook mentioned his upcoming birthday, pondering aloud if he should make seaweed soup for himself. (It’s tradition for Koreans to eat seaweed soup on their birthdays.) This simple wish highlighted his down-to-earth nature, which endeared him to fans even more. On a slightly sour note, he talked about a trip he went on with friends, which saw them in his hometown of Busan. He expressed slight disappointment that someone had posted about it.

As the session neared its end, Jungkook‘s genuine affection for his fans was evident. “Everyone, I have to go now. What should I do? I have to go,” he said, sounding almost regretful. He apologized for the abrupt end, promising to attend the next listening party and hoping for a better experience. His parting words were filled with love and gratitude, “Hope you wrap up your day well. Make sure to eat well. I wish you happiness. I’ll get going ARMY, I love you!”

This Stationhead session with Jungkook was a testament to the bond between BTS and their fans. It was a reminder that behind the glitz and glamor, K-idols are human too. – K-Pop News Writer

RIIZE’s Seunghan Apologizes For Hotel Photo Controversy

Seunghan from RIIZE has taken it upon himself to issue a personal apology for the recent controversy surrounding a hotel photo. The young idol took it upon himself to reach out to fans and explain what had happened. In addition to that, his agency might be getting ready to track down the source of the images.

On August 30, Seunghan took to RIIZE’s official Instagram account to post his apology.

“I’m writing this because I feel I need to tell you this in advance before standing in front of fans. Firstly, I sincerely apologize to fans who support RIIZE,” he wrote. “Because of my personal issues, I caused harm to the team at a very important and critical moment before our debut and disappointed the members and staff.”

“I am also feeling regretful for not being able to apologize quickly because I was scared and anxious,” Seunghan added. “I’m unable to blame anyone else, and all of this happened because of my imprudence. I reflected a lot on my past time and actions.”

Seunghan concluded by promising to do his best as a member of RIIZE.

The hotel photo controversy captured Seunghan sharing an intimate moment with his purported girlfriend from his trainee days. Not surprisingly, it ignited a considerable online buzz. Although SM Entertainment disclosed that Seunghan’s health concerns would lead to his temporary absence from the group’s ‘NPOP’ recording, many believe it was due to the recent uproar.

Seunghan’s decision to apologize directly suggests his understanding of the situation’s gravity and his commitment to addressing it sincerely. The hotel photo incident has not only generated public interest but has also impacted his professional commitments within RIIZE. It serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by K-pop idols in navigating personal matters while in the spotlight, often requiring them to balance their personal lives with their public image and career responsibilities.

RIIZE will release their first single album “Get A Guitar” on September 4, 2023.

During her visit, she shared intriguing insights about her career and addressed listener questions.

Hyoyeon Talks About The Difficulties of Communicating With Other GIRLS’ GENERATION Members

One fan inquired about how her fellow group members reacted to her new single, leading Hyoyeon to candidly illuminate the group’s real dynamic. She disclosed that, in reality, they don’t closely monitor each other’s individual schedules due to their incredibly busy lives. This makes it nearly impractical to keep constant tabs on one another.

The revelation sheds light on the challenges of maintaining close connections within a highly active and dynamic group like GIRLS’ GENERATION, where each member is pursuing their individual endeavors. HYO’s candid response provides valuable insight into the realities of maintaining strong bonds within a large, busy group.

Interestingly, Hyoyeon admitted she has yet to hear from the other members of the group since her single’s release.

It may sound cold but the members of GIRLS’ GENERATION are clearly busy with their own schedules. Although it means they don’t bond like other groups, there is little doubt that their friendship is forever.

Hyoyeon also revealed that she doesn’t do a lot when she isn’t promoting as a solo artist. “During my off-season, I am just like anyone else – I even wear the same clothes for five days straight,” Hyoyeon said.

Confirmed! Ex-LOONA’s Chuu to Debut as Soloist in October

Mark your calendars! Former LOONA member Chuu, whose real name is Kim Ji-Woo, is set to finally make her solo debut in October.

On Tuesday, August 29, the artist’s label ATRP confirmed that Chuu is currently preparing to release her first solo album. Given that this will mark her first release as a soloist, she plans to showcase her charm as she embarks on a new beginning.

Although a final date about her solo debut has yet to be announced, Chuu has been teasing the fans with messages likely hinting at her release.

“This place is full of loveliness and amazing vitality. This flower field full of flowers to wrap the girl around is filled with sparkling things like musical notes, wings, and wildflowers. The girl looks at another world spread out in front of her with sparkling eyes,” the translation of the post read.

Following the news, dedicated fans of Chuu have been anticipating this development in her career.  Especially that this upcoming release would mark the artist’s solo music since her legal battle with former agency BlockBerry Creative.

Chuu and her fresh start

In December 2017, Chuu was introduced as the 10th member of LOONA. She was also a member of the group’s third sub-unit LOONA/yyxy, before the group officially debuted as a 12-member act in August 2018.

However, Blockberry Creative expelled her from the group in November 2022, nearly a year after she filed an injunction to terminate her contract. In August 2023, the Seoul Northern District Court ruled in favor of Chuu on her lawsuit against Blockberry Creative.

Currently, Chuu is an artist under the startup agency ATRP.

“We are very happy to welcome Chuu as our agency’s first artist. We will give full support so that Chuu, who has unlimited potential, can fully display her talent as an artist and continue her activities enjoyably and happily. Please show lots of support and interest for Chuu who is taking a new leap,” the label said about having the singer.

Since then, ATRP has been preparing solo activities for the singer. In July, the agency revealed Chuu’s official fandom and lightstick names. Interestingly,“Kkoti” which translate to “home” is the singer’s fandom name.

Additionally, Chuu has also been confirmed to appear as an MC in the variety show Steel Unit. She will rejoin the program in its third season after her appearance in the first season.

Where are the LOONA members now?

After Chuu filed her injunctions against BlockBerry Creative, other LOONA members also started doing so. In June 2023, all 12 members won their respective lawsuits and left the agency.

Since then, the members have signed with different agencies.

Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, and Haseul are now under Modhaus. Interestingly, Modhaus has since launched the ARTMS project. Said project will reportedly refer to the activities of the LOONA members under their agency.

In July, Odd Eye Circle, the sub-unit composed of Choerry, Jinsoul, and Kim Lip, released their album Version Up. Meanwhile, Heejin is also set to make her solo debut.

Additionally, former LOONA members HyunJin, YeoJin, Vivi, Go Won, and HyeJu have formed the group LOOSSEMBLE (LOONA Assemble). They’re all under the agency CTDENM.

SEVENTEEN’s Jun Reveals Heartwarming Story Behind ‘Lie Lie Lie’ Cover

JUN might be an established K-pop idol now but there was a time when the SEVENTEEN member was just a trainee with big dreams. Interestingly, Wen Junhui reflected on his past after delivering a sweet cover of Lee Juck’s “Lie Lie Lie.” The Chinese idol shared how the song helped him connect with a random stranger who left a lasting impression.

Jun Shares Why ‘Lie Lie Lie’ Has a Special Connection To Him

In a recent episode of Lee Mujin‘s popular musical variety program “Leemujin Service”, JUN sang his own version of some classic songs. The second cover was Lee Juck’s “Lie Lie Lie” and the SEVENTEEN member shared why he chose to sing it.

According to JUN, he had trouble finding the confidence to sing when he was a trainee. In fact, he would often lose his voice when singing to a crowd. Since this would be a major hurdle for a K-pop idol, PLEDIS Entertainment decided to send Jun on a mission to face his fears.

He continued by sharing how he had to find someone in a crowd to listen to him sing. Although JUN was told he only had to sing the first verse, he admitted that finding a listener was difficult. The trainee was sent to the busy streets of Gangnam for almost an hour around lunchtime. Whenever he approached an individual, they would tell him they didn’t have time to listen.

Luckily for JUN, one older man stopped to listen to him. When the trainee declared that he would cover “Lie Lie Lie”, the man admitted that he was a Lee Juck fan. After listening to the future SEVENTEEN member, the man even gave some feedback. He reportedly praised JUN for his emotion but told him to practice his pronunciation.

JUN clearly appreciated the feedback and admitted he wanted to reconnect with his listener. “I wanted to thank him again if I have a second chance, but it’s hard to find him,” he admitted.

It’s a great story that confirms a kind gesture is always treasured. Hopefully, JUN will be able to reconnect with his random listener from his pre-debut days. In the meantime, SEVENTEEN is preparing for a comeback in October.
