SM Entertainment Warns Fans of Clothing Brand That Uses NCT Dream for Events Without Their Consent

SM Entertainment has alerted fans regarding a clothing brand’s unauthorized use of NCT DREAM for their upcoming events.

On Monday, October 30, SM Entertainment released a statement to detail what prompted their agency to terminate their partnership with TEDDY ISLAND, a clothing brand that NCT DREAM previously modeled for.

According to the label, the brand hadn’t met its financial obligations related to the modeling fees accrued during the past year despite the agency’s repeated payment requests. As a means to protect their artists’ rights, the company ultimately decided to end the partnership.

But what raised even more concern for the agency was TEDDY ISLAND’s continued unauthorized use of NCT DREAM in their advertising activities.

Despite using the NCT DREAM’s portraits without proper compensation, SM Entertainment revealed that the brand took things a step further by unilaterally announcing a fan sign event in May 2023 without prior consultation with  their agency.

NCT DREAM as TEDDY ISLAND ambassadors

In their statement, SM Entertainment shared that their advertising model contract with TEDDY ISLAND began in 2022. It was also then when NCT DREAM filmed advertising content for the brand. However, the brand didn’t fulfill their financial obligations for the group.

https://twitter.com/teddyisland_twt/status/1626144360562675717

In response, the label said that they requested the clothing brand to immediately cease using their artists’ images. In June 2023, SM Entertainment shared that they officially notified TEDDY ISLAND of the termination of the advertising model contract.

Regardless, the brand, according to SM Entertainment, continued to utilize NCT DREAM’s images without permission and remitted only a portion of the model appearance fees after the contract was terminated. Furthermore, TEDDY ISLAND allegedly attempted to shift the blame onto SM Entertainment, claiming that the entertainment company had breached the contract.

https://twitter.com/teddyisland_twt/status/1613098441437229056

Moreover, the situation escalated when TEDDY ISLAND announced a pre-order event featuring photo cards and merchandise bearing the NCT DREAM’s names and images without any prior discussion with SM Entertainment. Which prompted the agency to make a counter statement on October 18, 2023, to prevent any further harm to their artists and fans.

Additionally, the agency noted that they exerted efforts to resolve the matter amicably. As such they shared that they even presented multiple proposals to TEDDY ISLAND so that the canceled fan sign event can resume. However, the agency said that the brand continued to make unreasonable demands and shifted the responsibility for the dispute onto the label.

With this, SM Entertainment decided that no further negotiations will be feasible. In turn, they strongly advised fans to exercise caution in terms of supporting this clothing brand.

ENHYPEN Talks Fashion with Women’s Wear Daily

The ENHYPEN members—Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki—are on a roll. Not only did they become the fastest K-pop boy group to cross the 1 billion streams mark, but they were also named brand ambassadors for Prada earlier this year.

During a recent trip to Los Angeles, they sat down with Women’s Wear Daily to talk about their fashion journey. When asked about their experience at Milan Fashion Week, Jay said, “It was our second Prada show, but the first women’s show we’ve been to. We were curious about it and after the show, too, there were a lot of things to experience, like exhibitions.” Sunghoon added, “We were able to have some free time while we were there, so we got to enjoy ourselves. And at the show, we saw many actors and fellow artists, so it was really fun.”

At fashion events, the ENHYPEN members find a unique blend of fan interactions and style inspo. Jake reminisced about their European visits, saying, “We’ve now been to two in Europe, and we don’t normally have much opportunity to see our fans in Europe. Being able to see them after so long is really memorable. They welcomed us so warmly in Milan.” For his part, Heeseung loved the immersive experience of attending fashion shows in person. “I think the best thing is just the fact that we get to attend these fashion shows. It’s so different when you’re there in person compared to just watching a video. You can really feel what the designer is trying to convey,” he said.

The ENHYPEN members’ styles

For ENHYPEN, fashion is a form of expression. Each member has a distinct style that sets them apart. While Sunoo prefers to keep it simple, Sunghoon leans towards a more embellished look with plenty of accessories. Ni-ki‘s style is hip with a touch of vintage, and Jungwon is known for his love of oversized clothing. Jay, on the other hand, shared, “There are a lot of things I like, but recently I’ve been into retro and newtro… Like ’70s and ’80s styles. Rockstuds, things like that.”

They know that fashion and K-pop are inextricably linked. Jake said, “Being on stage and showing yourself is a major element of K-pop, so we put a lot of thought into fashion and what we wear. And I think the public also keeps a close eye on the fashion and visual aspects.” Heeseung added, “That and it’s also a big part of how we portray ourselves. A certain outfit can make you look a certain way, according to the style. Because we’re able to change that based on how we want to be perceived, I think it’s a really important part of being an idol.”

A lot of effort goes into curating looks that align with the theme of their music. Sunoo said, “For DARK BLOOD, we had outfits that are similar to what vampires wear, like suits. In the music video, we had pearl vests, and we tried a lot of new things. Things that had a vampire vibe to it.” Jungwon elaborated, “We had an artisan create the clothes custom for us. I think the fans may have been intrigued by the outfits at first, but we were so proud of them. It was heavy but we loved it.”

Stylish and talented

Their ongoing U.S. tour is another testament to their global appeal. The tour began in Los Angeles, where they mesmerized fans with their performances. Sunghoon expressed his excitement, saying, “Doing a show in a stadium in L.A., it felt really different. I think the ENGENEs really enjoyed themselves too, so we were also extra excited. It gave us strength. It was so fun on stage.” The members also shared their favorite songs from the setlist, with Sunoo choosing “Karma” and Jay picking “Blockbuster.”

When WWD asked about their favorite tour outfits, Ni-ki shared, “The encore outfits. I think compared to the other outfits—the other outfits were created by our label to match the songs, but for the encore, I requested the style that I wanted, baggy jeans and a shirt. I was glad I was able to wear that. It was my favorite.” Sunghoon, sounding a bit surprised, responded, “I think only Ni-ki requested. I didn’t know we could do that.” He also mentioned that they updated the encore outfits for the U.S. tour. Jungwon added that they change those outfits for each tour leg. Ni-ki then pointed out that similar changes are made to the merchandise as well.

The WWD interview proved that the ENHYPEN members aren’t just talented, they’re stylish too. – K-Pop News Writer

Look: LE SSERAFIM Is Louis Vuitton’s Brand Ambassador

K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM is about to make waves in the fashion industry as luxury house Louis Vuitton tapped them as their newest brand ambassador.

On Friday, October 13, the brand unveiled a new campaign featuring all five LE SSERAFIM members: Kim Chaewon, Hong Eunchae, Sakura, Kazuha, and Huh Yunjin.

In the debut campaign video, the quintet are seen flaunting the brand’s latest capsule collection while walking across the iconic bridge of the Hangang River.

Aside from the short fashion film, Louis Vuitton also released individual and group photos of the group.

According to L’Officiel, the capsule collection that the LE SSERAFIM members are modeling features exclusive redesigns of iconic Louis Vuitton pieces.

Additionally, the collection will reportedly have a total of 16 bags that are exclusive to South Korea. Meanwhile, another eight designs will be rolled out worldwide to a later date.

Prior to being named brand ambassador, LE SSERAFIM previously performed at Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Fall 2023 after-party show in April.

In a press release, Nicolas Ghesquière, artistic director of women’s collection at Louis Vuitton, expressed his excitement in having the group onboard.

“We met for the first time at my pre-fall show in Seoul and I really loved the energy they brought to the after party with their performance. They each have such a unique style that together feels very cool and authentic,” he said,

Fans’ happiness for LE SSERAFIM

Following the news, FEARNOTs couldn’t help but congratulate “Anti-Fragile” singers for the achievement.

Since all of LE SSERAFIM were tapped as ambassadors, they became the first K-pop girl group to be tapped by Louis Vuitton. And the second overall, as they will be following in the footsteps of their HYBE Labels seniors BTS. To recall, all members of BTS served as Louis Vuitton ambassadors from 2021 to 2022.

For their fans, the milestone is even more commendable as the group achieved it within a year and a half since their debut. Initially a six-member group, LE SSERAFIM made their debut under Source Music in May 2022. In July 2022, Kim Garam left the group.

Given this recent development, LE SSERAFIM is joining the likes of other K-pop idols who are also under Louis Vuitton. Among in the list are Stray Kids’ Felix, BTS’ j-hope, Jackson Wang, and NewJeans’ Hyein.

As for other K-pop idols serving as ambassadors for fashion brands, the list includes BTS’ V for Cartier, TWICE’s Dahyun for Michael Kors, TWICE’s Sana for Prada, SEVENTEEN’s DK for Bally.

Dior Men Names BTS’ Jimin the Face of Its Spring 2024 Campaign

BTS member and Dior global ambassador Jimin is set to dazzle as the face of Dior Men’s Spring 2024 campaign. This is a significant milestone for the South Korean superstar, as it’s his first campaign since he became the global ambassador for the French luxury brand last January. Soon after the big reveal, Jimin graced the cover of L’Officiel Hommes Malaysia, where the interviewer likened his ambassadorship to an invite to the White House.

Jimin responded by thanking the brand for the opportunity. “I feel very grateful and blessed to have become an ambassador for a prestigious global brand. I hope I can take this opportunity to learn more about fashion and contribute something to Dior,” he said at the time.

Last September, Jimin appeared at the Lady Dior Celebration Exhibition in Seoul. He turned heads in a beige, knee-length trench coat, a crisp white full-sleeve shirt, and grey trousers. Finally, a cool silver statement necklace added a sparkly touch to his ensemble. His regal bearing prompted the fans to call him a Disney prince.

Dior Men’s Spring 2024 campaign

Alasdair McLellan photographed the Spring 2024 campaign. Some of the photos are striking black-and-white shots in which Jimin wears preppy sweaters, streamlined suits, and zippered shirts. Other images, in color, capture him posing in a lush forest. In those photos, he donned one of two fits: a light blue twisted turtleneck sweater paired with a backpack in the house’s iconic motif, or a navy suit adorned with brooches evoking ceremonial insignia with Dior emblems.

Dior Men’s artistic director, Kim Jones, recalled his early interactions with the BTS member. “I’ve seen the rise and rise of [Jimin]. He has an amazing style and character; that’s why I wanted to have him for the campaign.” Jones’ admiration for Jimin and his style isn’t isolated. BTS‘ working relationship with Dior goes back to 2019 when Jones designed stage outfits for their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself world tour.

The much-anticipated Dior Men ad campaign featuring Jimin will debut in print this Tuesday. Ronnie Cooke Newhouse art-directed the campaign, Ellie Grace Cumming styled it, Dior’s creative and image director Peter Philips handled the makeup, and Benjamin Muller did the hair. – K-Pop News Writer

LE SSERAFIM Leader Kim Chaewon Shares Beauty Secrets

Kim Chaewon, the leader of LE SSERAFIM, is renowned for her versatility. Not only can she sing anything with her golden set of pipes, but her beauty is as versatile as her vocals. She can switch between bold, blushy styles and delicate, fairy-like aesthetics at a moment’s notice. One of her standout looks was the one she sported for her “ANTIFRAGILE” fancam, characterized by sparkling eyes, faded lips, and a radiant blush.

A significant aspect of this look is the emphasis on her “aegyo-sal”—the puffy under-eye area that adds a youthful charm. To achieve this, Chaewon starts by applying blush to that area as well as her cheeks. According to her, it’s important to pick the right blush that will accent the area and add to your look. Personally, she favors peach or pink.

She then highlights the most prominent part of her aegyo-sal using a shimmering eyeshadow stick, though a regular shimmering eyeshadow with a small brush works just as well. Setting it with a sparkling loose eyeshadow powder completes the look.

In a video interview posted to W Korea’s YouTube channel, Chaewon shared her secret to flawless makeup and skin. “Hello, W subscribers! I’m Kim Chaewon. How to achieve my signature aegyo-sal? Well, my aegyo-sal makeup emphasizes the under-eye area with a sparkling touch. By using Make Up For Ever Aqua Resist Smoky Shadow #10 and finishing with Star Lit Diamond Powder #111, you can complete my signature look,” she began.

LESSERAFIM Chaewon’s Charm-Filled Self-Makeup Sweet Tips

What Chaewon does to stay beautiful

When asked about her off-day makeup routine, she mentioned preferring a natural look with a hint of color, given the elaborate stage makeup she often wears. She also emphasized the importance of developing a skincare routine.

“Like everyone else, I take cleansing very seriously. I’m quite obsessed with hydration. I moisturize day and night, so my focus is on moisturizing. Also, no matter where I go, I always carry two items with me. First, my go-to item is the HD SKIN Cushion. It adheres naturally and offers good coverage. Voilà! I even applied it now. The second item is the Make Up For Ever UHD Pressed Powder. I always finish with this powder. After using it, you can see that the skin texture looks very clean and refined. It enhances the appearance of my skin. I’m currently using this powder as well.”

Chaewon also touched upon her workout routine. “I often engage in bodyweight exercises. Lately, I’ve been focusing more on bodyweight exercises than on lifting weights or using equipment to prevent injuries. But did you know? Bodyweight exercises are genuinely challenging. I’m diligently practicing them,” she shared. “I have a workout routine, but if I were to detail everything, it might take all night. The exercises I do most frequently and enjoy the most are planks and side planks. I also incorporate burpees. When I feel I’ve overindulged on a particular day, I tend to do a lot of burpees.”

All of that helps this talented idol stay beautiful. For more from Chaewon and the record-breaking girl group she leads, keep an eye on W Korea’s social media. – K-Pop News Writer

BLACKPINK Jennie Attends Balenciaga Afterparty in Paris

BLACKPINK’s Jennie recently found herself at the center of intrigue when fans spotted her at a designer brand event in Paris, a brand she isn’t officially affiliated with. Known for her status as an ambassador for prestigious brands like Calvin Klein and Chanel, it was a surprising sight for netizens to see Jennie allegedly attending a Balenciaga afterparty in the City of Lights.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie Makes an Appearance At Balenciaga Afterparty

Jennie’s presence in Paris was associated with Fashion Week, where she appeared to be thoroughly enjoying her time. She even attended fellow BLACKPINK member Lisa’s electrifying Crazy Horse performance. On October 2, photos surfaced, leaving BLINKs buzzing with speculation. Though the snapshots were not crystal clear, many keen-eyed fans identified Jennie by her distinctive hairstyle and outfit.

Further confirmation seemed to emerge when BLINKs traced the original source of the photos, which indicated that indeed Jennie had graced the Balenciaga afterparty following the brand’s October 1 show.

The surprise of Jennie’s attendance at the event prompted widespread curiosity, especially given her existing affiliations with various designer labels. However, astute observers began to connect the dots. Notably, Jennie’s circle of friends, including Haze, Fai Khadra (who had a noteworthy model debut), and Rachel Senott, were also present. This led fans to deduce that Jennie was there, not as a brand ambassador, but as a loyal friend and supporter.

While the idea of Jennie collaborating with Balenciaga would undoubtedly excite many, it appears that her motive was simply to stand by her friends. It’s a testament to Jennie’s genuine and steadfast character, where she consistently finds ways to lend her support to those close to her. BLINKs, the dedicated fans of BLACKPINK, continue to admire Jennie not only for her fashion-forward style but also for her unwavering loyalty to her friends in the fashion world.

Here’s How TXT’s Soobin Maintains His Gorgeous Visuals

In an industry where handsome men are a dime a dozen, Soobin‘s visuals stand out. His appearance has garnered attention from fans worldwide, and many are curious about the secrets behind his flawless complexion. During a recent live broadcast on Weverse, the TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) leader shared insights into his beauty regimen. “I think my face looks pretty good today, so it’s okay if I don’t wear glasses today,” Soobin began.

Delving deeper into his routine, he continued, “I do a lot of skincare. Is it a lot? I don’t know, does everyone do this much? I take vitamins that are good for your skin, like vitamin B and C! There’s a face mask called ‘modeling pack,’ and I do that once on days before filming. We had filming today, so I did it yesterday. I do the skincare that I’ve shown in my vlog!”

A detailed look into his regimen

In November 2022, he gave fans a detailed look into his regimen. He uploaded a vlog to YouTube where he took his fans, nicknamed MOAs, through his nightly routine while on the worldwide ACT: LOVESICK tour.

After showering, Soobin begins by applying a generous amount of foam cleanser, scrubbing his skin thoroughly. He then washes off the cleanser and applies moisturizer. On particularly dry days, he also uses a face pack. After the product sets, Soobin washes his face with water and uses two toning pads to smoothen his skin. The routine ends with applying essence, ampoules, and a final layer of face cream.

Expanding on skincare, he added, “But apparently, men don’t use that much toner. Even amongst our members, I think I’m the only one who puts on toner, ampoules, and face cream as a full set. The members just put on face lotion to keep it simple. Some don’t even put on anything. Before debuting, I didn’t either. I’d just wash my face and go to bed, but after debuting, my skin started getting dry, so I started doing skincare.”

Soobin on aging and dieting

Beyond skincare, Soobin also touched upon concerns about aging. “I’m worried about something. My skin is super thin, right? I saw this on YouTube, but it said that people with thin skin will show signs of aging faster. I don’t want to grow old. I’ve been thinking about that a lot these days. I’m really sensitive about my skin. If I get even just one spot on my skin, I get so stressed.”

About his dietary habits, Soobin shared, “Diet? I don’t think I’ve been on a diet at all this year. It’s been about half a year since I weighed myself. I haven’t checked my weight since we went overseas on tour, and we left in March, so it’s been half a year. I don’t even know how much I weigh, and if I feel like my face is getting puffier, I just eat less rice.”

Beyond the surface

Soobin is also a big believer in the importance of smelling good. “I asked my friends on our group chat what perfumes they use and to give me recommendations. We’ve decided to meet up in three to four days, so they said they’d bring their own perfumes and give me a tester, and then I’ll pick one and order it!”

Concluding with his hair preferences, he spoke about his hair, “Some people are asking about my hair color. I really wanted to dye my hair because I think dyed hair is better for performances. Black hair is better on the daily, but when it’s styled for performances, black hair might look a little simple, while dyed hair looks charming. But having black hair… I also do want to stop dyeing my hair. Once you dye your hair, it takes a long time for it to recover to its natural state, so it’s a bit difficult, and my hair is weak to begin with. I want to give long hair a try! I don’t want to do it for too long, but just once, I kind of want to!”

Soobin’s dedication to skincare, his candidness about personal concerns, and his ever-evolving style make him a standout in the K-pop industry. As fans continue to admire his visuals, it’s clear that his commitment to self-care goes beyond just the surface. With his insights, many can find inspiration in adopting their own beauty and wellness routines. – K-Pop News Writer
