Filipino fans sent their best wishes to TWICE’s Chaeyoung after JYP Entertainment announced her absence from the group’s Philippine concerts. The girl group landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on the morning of September 29. However, Chaeyoung was not with them.

JYP Entertainment, the group’s agency, shared the news on TWICE’s official SNS a day before their weekend concerts. The nine-member girl group is scheduled to perform their “Ready To Be” shows on September 30 and October 1 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. Unfortunately, the agency stated that Chaeyoung would not be participating in both shows due to “health issues.”

“We regret to inform you that Chaeyoung is unable to participate in the upcoming TWICE 5TH WORLD TOUR ‘READY TO BE’ Bulacan concert due to health issues,” said JYP Entertainment. “We convey this unfortunate news with a heavy heart, knowing fans were eagerly anticipating the show. We kindly request your understanding as this decision was made after much consideration to protect the artist’s health.”

TWICE last performed in the Philippines during their ‘Twicelights’ World Tour in 2019 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. Fans expressed disappointment that TWICE would not be complete for their return performance. However, many understood the group’s situation and sent “get well soon” messages for Chaeyoung on social media platforms.

Get well soon, Chaeyoung

The Bulacan concerts are part of TWICE’s ongoing TWICE 5TH WORLD TOUR ‘READY TO BE’ trek. After the Philippines, the group will perform in Melbourne on November 4 and Jakarta on December 23. In 2024, they have scheduled performances in Mexico City on February 3 and São Paulo on February 6.

Earlier this year, USA TODAY had an interview with TWICE, where Chaeyoung shared her thoughts about the group’s journey and future plans. Formed on the competition show Sixteen in 2015, TWICE has seen significant growth and evolution. From their debut song “Like OOH-AHH” in October 2015, their style, sound, and confidence have evolved. Over the years, the members have become more involved in the creative process, showcasing their unique personalities.

Chaeyoung expressed her gratitude and excitement for the group’s future, stating, “As we continue to be active as a girl group, I am still able to stay very grateful and humble. We have so many things we want to show. We will do our best, so please look forward to everything we have.”

Here’s hoping Chaeyoung recovers quickly and returns to the stage soon. – K-Pop News Writer
