In a recent interview with Dispatch, Keena of FIFTY FIFTY shed light on the events that led her and her group members to file a lawsuit against their agency, ATTRAKT. The controversy began on June 13, when Saena, another member of FIFTY FIFTY, allegedly tested positive for COVID-19. She sent a photo of her test result to ATTRAKT and the agency believed her. However, Dispatch discovered that the coordinates of the location where the photo was taken didn’t point to the group’s dormitory. Instead, they pointed to the home of The Givers CEO, Ahn Sung Il.

Keena revealed, “Ahn Sung Il PD told us at that time, ‘You should stop attending your schedules starting now.’ He then suggested that COVID-19 was a safe way to avoid eyes from ATTRAKT. So he sent us that positive test photo, to use during the three days of quarantine. It was Ahn Sung Il who first suggested that we pursue the lawsuit. But in the end, he never provided us with any effective evidence. He just turned tail and ran.”

She also shared that Ahn Sung Il had forged her signature to alter her royalty distribution for the song “Cupid,” reducing it from 6.5% to just 0.5%. When news broke out that Ahn Sung Il forged his education records and the signatures of the original producers of “Cupid,” the members’ parents were outraged.

Keena shed light on Ahn Sung Il’s tactics

Keena revealed how manipulative Ahn Sung Il could be. She talked about his claims that he influenced their song’s performance on the Billboard charts. Apparently, he also led the members to doubt ATTRAKT’s financial stability and criticized CEO Jeon Hong Joon for declining a buyout offer from Warner Records. Keena said he made them believe it was a terrible decision.

Ahn Sung Il’s deception peaked in a meeting where he gave the group an ultimatum. Keena said, “He called my father and claimed that Jeon Hong Joon intended to acquire an investment from a big company, which would only pile up in the form of a debt for us members. It was a comment meant to coerce our parents into the idea of a lawsuit.”

At first, the FIFTY FIFTY controversy appeared to be ending when ATTRAKT terminated the other members’ contracts. But despite Keena‘s revelations about Ahn Sung Il, Aran, Saena, and Sio still assert that ATTRAKT unjustly transferred debt to the members. As of now, the future of FIFTY FIFTY remains uncertain. – K-Pop News Writer
