FTISLAND To Temporarily Promote As 2-Member Group

A major change is coming. FTISLAND has just been confirmed to temporarily promote as a 2-member group as Minhwan faces a huge controversy.

FTISLAND To Promote as 2-Member Group After Minhwan Controversy

On October 29, FTISLAND shared an official statement on Weverse confirming that the band will proceed with its activities as a duo, following recent personal controversies involving drummer Minhwan.

After in-depth discussions about FTISLAND’s future activities, we have decided to temporarily continue as a two-member group (Lee Hong Ki and Lee Jae Jin),” the statement read. “Starting from the scheduled activities on November 2, the drum position will be replaced by a session musician. As Lee Hong Ki and Lee Jae Jin have prepared diligently, they will perform without any issues.”

We sincerely apologize to the event organizers, fans, and audience for any confusion caused,” it added. “We will provide further updates on any changes as soon as they are confirmed.”

What Happened to Minhwan?

Earlier, on October 24, Minhwan’s ex-wife, Yulhee, shared a detailed video on her YouTube channel discussing their divorce, where she alleged infidelity during their marriage. In the video, she included audio recordings purportedly capturing Minhwan making reservations at adult entertainment venues while they were still married. These revelations quickly gained attention, prompting responses from both fans and the public.

The day after Yulhee’s video release, FNC Entertainment issued a statement confirming that Minhwan would be suspending all media and public activities. The agency emphasized Minhwan’s intention to take responsibility for his actions privately and stated that the remaining FTISLAND members would continue promoting as a two-member group.

In the recent Weverse announcement, FTISLAND assured fans of their commitment to music and requested support for the members as they adjust to this new lineup. The statement reflected the band’s determination to move forward despite challenges, with members Lee Hongki and Lee Jaejin carrying on performances and promotional activities. Fans have responded with mixed reactions, expressing both support for the group and disappointment over the circumstances.

On June 7, it was reported that the band will make their comeback on July 10 with their 7th full-length album. The news was met with great enthusiasm from fans who have been eagerly anticipating new music from the band.

In response to the report, FNC Entertainment, FTISLAND’s agency, confirmed the exciting development. “FTISLAND is preparing for a full-length album with the goal of releasing it in July,” the agency stated. This announcement marks a significant milestone for the band and their dedicated fanbase.

This upcoming album is particularly noteworthy as it will be FTISLAND’s first full-length album in eight years since the release of their 2016 album ‘Where’s the Truth.’ Although the group dropped a special album ‘Over 10 Years’ in 2017, it is not officially confirmed as their 7th full album. The long gap has only increased the anticipation and excitement surrounding this new project. Fans are eager to see how the band’s sound has evolved and what new musical directions they will explore.

The upcoming album will also be their first major release since their 9th mini-album ‘Sage’, which was released in September last year. FTISLAND Through the Years

FTISLAND, which stands for Five Treasure Island, made their debut on June 7, 2007. The band quickly rose to fame with their unique blend of rock and pop music, earning a dedicated following both in South Korea and internationally. Their debut song “Love Sick” became an instant hit, and they have since released numerous successful albums and singles, solidifying their place in the music industry.

The timing of the comeback is also significant as it coincides with the band’s 17th anniversary. Celebrating 17 years in the industry is a remarkable achievement, and releasing a new album around this milestone adds an extra layer of significance. It’s a testament to their enduring popularity and the strong bond they have with their fans.

FTISLAND’s ability to continually adapt and evolve over the years has also played a crucial role in their longevity. Their music resonates with a wide audience, and they have also consistently demonstrated their talent and versatility. As they prepare to release their 7th full-length album, fans are also eagerly awaiting the next chapter in FTISLAND’s illustrious career. The upcoming album promises to be a celebration of their journey so far and a glimpse into their future musical endeavors.

SF9 Dawon Confirms July Military Enlistment Date

Dawon is set to begin his mandatory military service this summer. The SF9 member has been confirmed for a July military enlistment date, as announced by his agency.

SF9 Member Dawon Announces July Military Enlistment

On May 21, FNC Entertainment made an official announcement through SF9’s fan cafe, sharing the details of his enlistment.

“Hello, this is FNC Entertainment. We want to share some news about SF9’s Dawon’s military enlistment. Dawon will join the military as an active duty soldier on July 1,” the statement began. The agency also emphasized that, to prevent overcrowding at the enlistment site, no official event will be held on the day of his enlistment. This decision aligns with common practice in South Korea, where public and media attention at military enlistments can also create logistical challenges and disrupt the privacy of the individuals enlisting.

FNC Entertainment further requested that fans respect Dawon’s privacy by refraining from visiting the enlistment site. “Since this is a private event for military personnel, we kindly request that fans refrain from visiting the site. We appreciate your cooperation,” the statement read. This request is made to ensure a smooth and respectful process for Dawon and other enlisting soldiers.

Preparing for The Future

The agency also expressed gratitude for the fans’ ongoing support and urged them to continue showing love and encouragement during Dawon’s service period. “We sincerely thank you for your love and support for SF9’s Dawon. Please continue to support him until he safely completes his service and returns in good health,” it read.

The announcement comes only a few weeks after the SF9 member completed his solo fan concert “2024 DA WON FAN MEETING: Chemistry” on April 28, 2024. Dawon will also be the third member of the idol group to enlist for military service following Jaeyoon, who enlisted back in March 2024.

FNC Entertainment to Debut First Rock Band in 10 Years

FNC Entertainment has officially announced the debut of a new all-male rock group.

This marks the agency’s first foray into the rock genre in nearly a decade since N.Flying debuted in 2015. FNC Entertainment, known for debuting some of South Korea’s most successful bands, is doing it all over again with this yet-to-be-named band. The new band will feature four members, all long-time trainees at FNC, who are currently preparing to debut in the first half of 2025.

Since its inception in 2006, FNC Entertainment has been a significant player in the country’s band scene. In addition to F.T. Island, CNBLUE, and N.Flying, the agency also launched the girl group AOA (Ace of Angels) in 2012. Initially promoted as both a dance group and a rock band, AOA eventually shifted their focus towards dance music. FNC’s current roster includes actor Jung Haein and boy groups SF9, P1Harmony, and AMPERS&ONE, as well as the girl group Cherry Bullet.

Their Japanese branch also has a new rock band, Hi-Fi Un!corn. This group debuted on June 26, 2023.

A big move for FNC

Before their official debut, the new all-male rock group opened F.T. Island‘s 2024 F.T. Island Live ‘HeyDay’ in Taipei, playing for a sold-out crowd at the Taipei Music Center. They impressed over 5,000 concertgoers with their professionalism, talent, and visuals. This show was part of a tour that will also take F.T. Island to Kuala Lumpur on February 24, Hong Kong on March 2, Jakarta on March 16, and Singapore on March 22.

They began their set with a K-pop medley, followed by a cover of Billie Eilish‘s “Bad Guy,” and concluded with an original, unreleased song that left a lasting impression on the audience. Their 20-minute set earned rave reviews from Taiwanese media outlets, including China Times, CityOne, and NOW NEWS.

Before leaving the stage, the members expressed their gratitude, saying, “It’s an honor and a joy to perform on such a grand stage, all thanks to our seniors. Thank you for enjoying it with us.”

While it remains uncertain if they’ll continue to open for F.T. Island, the new all-male rock group’s official debut is eagerly anticipated. Fans are excited, given FNC Entertainment‘s track record of debuting successful bands and the extensive training the four members have undergone. This is a significant move for FNC and the industry as a whole. It could potentially revitalize the rock scene within the K-pop industry and mark a new chapter in the agency’s history as a launchpad for successful bands. – K-Pop News Writer
