SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu Named as New Face of Calvin Klein Campaign

Attention, CARATs! Gear up to witness model Mingyu flaunt the Calvin Klein look!

On February 20, South Korean media outlets confirmed that Kim Mingyu of the multi-awarded K-pop group SEVENTEEN has been selected as the new face for a campaign of the prominent fashion brand Calvin Klein. 

According to the announcement, the SEVENTEEN rapper will begin representing the apparel for their 2024 spring/summer campaign. Aside from Mingyu, breakthrough girl group NewJeans has also been tapped as models for the same campaign.

In its previous collection, Calvin Klein showed the convergence of K-pop and high fashion through their ambassadors BLACKPINK’s Jennie, GOT7’s Mark and BTS’ Jungkook. 

Known for his impeccable fashion sense, Mingyu shared his excitement on the upcoming project. On the fandom platform Weverse, he wrote: “CK let’s go.”

As of writing, there’s no final details yet about the release of the said campaign. 

Fans react to Mingyu for Calvin Klein

Upon the news of the collaboration, fans of SEVENTEEN expressed their excitement on social media.

Taking Calvin Klein’s branding into account, several fans guessed that Mingyu will be posing in photos showing his fit and toned body, like the brand’s models in the past. “I’m so excited for him, I hope we all survive,” one fan wrote.

 

Moreover, another said that the campaign would highlight the idol’s defined features. “Once his Calvin Klein photoshoot [is] released, that would be the death of me,” another said. Notably, the rapper has also worn Calvin Klein pieces in his previous photoshoots – with some snaps easily becoming a favorite of his fans. 

Others also noted that it can be a continuous breakthrough for the K-pop star to dominate his modeling skills. Aside from being tapped as the newest face of Calvin Klein, the “Bittersweet” singer has also been invited to attend the 2024 Paris Fashion Week for the Dior show. Moreover, he has also modeled brands such as Bvlgari and Cartier for his previous magazine covers.

SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu Recalls Losing His Passport Before ‘Nana Tour’ Filming

SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu recently shared an amusing yet chaotic story that occurred just before the filming of the reality show NANA TOUR with SEVENTEEN. As the group’s fans are aware, Mingyu had a panic-inducing moment when he lost his passport, sparking a frantic search at the airport.

Mingyu disclosed an intriguing twist

The drama unfolded as SEVENTEEN arrived at the airport to depart for Italy, where they were set to film the show. It was while they were heading towards immigration that Mingyu realized his passport was missing. He immediately sat down and made urgent phone calls to various contacts for assistance. At the same time, Na Young-seok, the show’s Producing Director (PD), quickly mobilized the fans present to join in the search for the missing passport. After an intense ten minutes, the passport was found with a staff member, enabling Mingyu to successfully board the plane.

This incident was later brought up at a press conference for the show. It was held at the Eliena Hotel in Gangnam, Seoul. It was here that Mingyu disclosed an intriguing twist: his bandmate DK was the mastermind behind the incident, having decided to play a prank on him.

He shared, “I lost my passport from the first day. I was looking for my passport until just before the flight. Even the fans at the airport helped me, but I couldn’t find it. It turned out that DK had taken my passport and boarded the plane. And he took my plane ticket too. But in the end, I was able to board the plane after a lot of twists and turns. Fans also shared videos with the video PDs, so you can feel the desperation and urgency at the time.”

A promising start

DK was seated next to Mingyu at the press conference, where Mingyu affectionately gestured towards DK, playfully exposing him as the prankster by touching his shoulder. DK responded with a mischievous smile, eliciting laughter from everyone present. This playful interaction underscored the group’s fun-loving and lighthearted nature.

SEVENTEEN is renowned in the K-pop world not only for their music but also for their unique comedic flair. They frequently engage in hilarious challenges and pranks, both in interviews and on their variety show, Going SEVENTEEN. Their carefree and unfiltered approach to life has endeared them to both fans and non-fans alike.

NANA TOUR with SEVENTEEN, which debuted on January 5, started strong with a 2.1% viewership rating for its first episode. Considering it’s on a cable channel, this rating is quite respectable. The show aims to hit a 3% rating, similar to Earth Arcade Season 1, another show by the same producer, which began at 2.2% and reached 3.1%. The issue of fan behavior at airports has been a hot topic of debate among netizens in recent months, with videos from airports worldwide depicting idols being mobbed and large crowds gathering, despite their companies’ scheduling statements. Still, Kim Mingyu made sure to remind one stealthy CARAT to follow the rules at the airport.

Mingyu Calls Out CARAT Who Kept Filming SEVENTEEN At The Airport

Recently, SEVENTEEN was spotted at an airport in Europe, where they had been filming for “Youth Over Flowers” and participating in other schedules. Many fans had expressed their desire for the members to enjoy their time abroad without any intrusion into their privacy. However, footage of the members leaving Europe began to circulate.

One particular fan kept filming Mingyu until he decided to make sure they got the message. The SEVENTEEN member discreetly pointed to the sign once again to emphasize the message and remind the fan not to record the idols.

Not surprisingly, Mingyu has since received praise for “calling out” a fan who was recording the members even after airport staff had pointed out a notice prohibiting filming. SEVENTEEN is currently preparing for an October comeback later this year. The 13-member boy group will be dropping their 11th mini album ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’ which will be released on October 23, 2023. But before dropping the new EP, the idols will also be calling in CARATs to celebrate a special festival.

PLEDIS Entertainment has confirmed that a second SEVENTEEN STREET will be opened in Seongsu. The upcoming festival includes an art wall, food, and a cafe. SEVENTEEN STREET in Seongsu will be open from October 4 to 9, 2023.

SEVENTEEN Mingyu Celebrates Birthday with BTS Jungkook and ASTRO Cha Eun Woo

Mingyu is officially 26 years old. The SEVENTEEN rapper celebrated his 26th birthday last week with the special people in his life. Kim Mingyu previously had a fun dinner with the members of his boy group. However, he also took time with his close friends. His recent social media posts confirm he hung out with BTS maknae Jungkook and ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo.

Kim Mingyu turned 26 on April 6, 2023, and his latest Instagram post confirmed he celebrated the milestone with friends. The SEVENTEEN member posted pictures from a recent dinner he had with fellow 97 liners Jungkook and Cha Eun Woo.

The friendship between Mingyu, Jungkook, and Cha Eun Woo is well-known in the K-pop industry. The three idols are often referred to as the 97z which includes GOT7’s BamBam and Yugyeom and SEVENTEEN’s THE8 and DK. 97z regularly spends time together which is a welcome sight for multiple fandoms.

Mingyu and the rest of SEVENTEEN have announced a new EP slated for release in April. ‘FML’ is the group’s 10th mini-album and will consist of six new songs including the title track “F*ck My Life.” In addition to that, the Hiphop Team, Performance Team, and Vocal Team will each have their own songs as well. The album is now available for pre-order and will be on April 24, 2023, at 6:00 PM KST.

Jungkook recently performed at the opening ceremony for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The BTS maknae was also announced as the newest global ambassador for Calvin Klein. Moreover, Jeon Jungkook currently appears in the campaigns for Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein Underwear.

Cha Eun Woo’s most recent project was the TV series “Island” where he played an exorcist priest. The ASTRO singer will next appear in the webtoon-based fantasy romance drama “A Good Day to Be a Dog.”

SEVENTEEN Unveils ‘FML’ Hidden Version Tracklist

SEVENTEEN is preparing to release their 10th mini album ‘FML’ this month and the group has just unveiled the tracklist. A brief teaser dubbed the “Hidden” version confirms the surprising title track. It also reveals three new songs performed by the SVT teams.

The official SEVENTEEN Twitter account shared the “Hidden” version tracklist teaser for ‘FML’. It confirms that the boy group’s 10th mini album will consist of six new songs. The first title track is “F*ck My Life” while the second title track remains unknown.

The official track list also includes new songs from each SEVENTEEN team. The Hiphop Team, which consists of S. Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon, have produced the track “Fire.” For their song, the Vocal Team comprised of Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, and Seungkwan chose “먼지 (Dust)”.

Additionally, the Performance Team (Hoshi, Jun, THE8, and Dino) has a new song “I Don’t Understand But I Luv U.” The track is inspired by a fan comment during SEVENTEEN’s Weverse live broadcast where an international CARAT expressed their love for the group despite the language barrier. A fifth track “April Shower” was also confirmed in the video.

‘FML’ will be SEVENTEEN’s 10th mini album and their first group release for the year. The group’s special subunit BSS (DK, Hoshi, and Seungkwan) had previously released their comeback single album ‘Second Wind’ on February 6, 2023. This marked BooSeokSoon’s first comeback after five years of being inactive.

SEVENTEEN recently got together to celebrate Mingyu‘s birthday. The group’s official Twitter account shared a photo of all 13 members enjoying a meal together. Kim Mingyu is a member of the SVT Hiphop Team and he turned 26 on April 6, 2023.

SEVENTEEN’s 10th mini album ‘FML’ is currently available for pre-order. The EP is scheduled for release on April 24, 2023, at 6:00 PM KST.
