NCT’s Taeyong Tops iTunes Charts in 33 Countries With New EP

With the release of his new mini-album TAP on February 26, NCT’s Taeyong continues to showcase his immense popularity. TAP hit No. 1 on the iTunes Top Albums charts in countries including Australia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, and the United States. Overall, TAP went to No. 1 in 33 countries worldwide, including unexpected territories like Belarus, Finland, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Taiwan, and Vietnam. 

Beyond its success on iTunes, TAP achieved remarkable feats on other platforms as well. It reached No. 1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart, topped the digital album sales charts on China‘s QQ Music and Kugou Music, and climbed to the top of AWA’s real-time rapid rise chart in Japan. With these achievements, it’s no surprise that the album sold 229,426 copies in its first week.

Critics and fans have celebrated TAP for its eclectic mix of six tracks that explore various genres. The EP’s title track, “TAP,” demonstrates Taeyong’s artistic range and versatility, not only in his performances of dance and song but also through his contributions as a composer and songwriter. NCT’s Taeyong Set for Exciting Solo Comeback This February

NCT‘s Taeyong has a lot in store for fans this month. Following his solo debut in 2023, the NCT 127 leader is set to release his second solo album on February 26. This album is a labor of love. Taeyong put his heart and soul into it, aiming to record something that truly reflects his feelings and identity. 

Before the album drops, Taeyong will meet his fans at his first solo concert, 2024 TAEYONG CONCERT <TY TRACK>, on February 24 and 25 at Seoul’s Olympic Hall. Taeyong will showcase his growth

Taeyong’s journey as a soloist began in March 2021 when he launched a SoundCloud account. His self-composed demo singles “Dark Clouds,” along with its remix, were his first solo releases. He bagged the Top Comments Award at the SoundCloud 2021 Playback Awards for “Dark Clouds.” More demo singles followed, such as “GTA1,” “GTA2,” “Blue,” “Monroe,” “Rose,” and “Swimming Pool.”

In March 2022, Taeyong collaborated with Suran on the song “Diamond” from her EP Flyin’ Part 1. He also launched his YouTube channel, TY Track, releasing performance videos for some of his tracks. His solo career progressed with the release of “Love Theory,” a collaboration with Wonstein through SM STATION.

On December 16, he shared photos from the set of NCT 127‘s upcoming winter single album “Be There For Me” where he will cover WHAM’s “Last Christmas.” While the post primarily focused on the upcoming release, the caption contained a potential hint about Taeyong’s enlistment timeline.

In the caption, Taeyong mentioned seeing fans again by Christmas 2025, implying a return after potential military service. Given that the mandatory service duration ranges from 18 to 21 months, depending on the type of service (Army or public service), fans have engaged in speculation about the possible enlistment window.

If Taeyong opts for Army service, enlisting between June and July 2024 could align with a return before Christmas 2025. Alternatively, choosing public service would necessitate an enlistment between March and April 2024 for a Christmas 2025 comeback.

While Taeyong’s comments and social media posts are currently speculative and subject to interpretation, the transparency and openness about the potential enlistment timeline have resonated with fans. NCT’s Taeyong and SEVENTEEN’s Woozi Show Off Adorable Friendship

In the world of K-pop, where talents and friendships often flourish behind the scenes, fans are always eager for glimpses into the personal lives of their favorite idols. Recently, NCT 127‘s Taeyong surprised fans during a live Instagram session by introducing an unexpected guest: SEVENTEEN‘s Woozi. 

As this is the first time that the two idols were seen together, fans couldn’t help but be curious  as to how these two K-pop powerhouses came to know each other. According to Taeyong they became friends because of their mutual passion for creating music. “We became close because we both liked composing music,” he said.

 

Moreover, the NCT 127 leader didn’t shy away from expressing his admiration for Woozi’s capabilities as a producer. During the live session, he revealed that he played some of his work for the SEVENTEEN member, who provided valuable feedback that boosted his confidence. Another proof of their tight friendship was that Taeyong was able to listen to the demo of “God of Music.” 

 

Throughout the live session, the two idols were also wary about dropping spoilers for their still-unannounced activities. At one point, Woozi told Taeyong that SEVENTEEN has imposed a fine for any member who drops spoilers. To which, the SM Entertainment artist was quickly taken aback. Which left Woozi quickly clarifying that it’s more of an inside joke within the group than a strict policy. 

Taeyong x Woozi collaboration?

Aside from the two idols sharing snippets from their daily lives, fans couldn’t help but adore the unexpected friendship between the two. At the start of the Instagram live, the “Super” singer mentioned that it was his first time appearing on someone else’s live stream, and the “Fact Check” singer expressed his honor at having him as a guest.

Moreover, Woozi also treated viewers to a dance to Taeyong’s solo track “Shalala.”  To which, the NCT member suggested that they film a TikTok dance challenge together, preferably their group’s latest comeback “Fact Check“.

And the two did film several dance challenge, proving their genuine bond! On Friday, October 27, they released one video for NCT 127′s “Fact Check“ and two videos for SEVENTEEN’s “God of Music” dance challenge. One video showed them doing the track’s point choreography, while another showed them sitting down and dancing adorably. 

Apart from dance challenges, Taeyong also mentioned during the live session his desire to receive a song from Woozi tailored to his style. To which the SEVENTEEN producer agreed, promising he’ll create something cool for his hyung. 

Now that they’ve kept their promise of doing a TikTok dance challenge, fans are eagerly anticipating a music collaboration between the two. Nevertheless, it’s safe to say that their musical collaborations and interactions will continue to be a source of joy and inspiration for many of their fans.

NCT’s Taeyong Worries Fans With Recent Health Updates

Taeyong of K-pop group NCT sparked concern among his fans as his health condition seems to worsen in the days leading to the act’s upcoming NCT NATION: To the World tour. 

After performing at the KCON LA 2023, Taeyong held a live broadcast wherein he updated fans with what he’s been up to lately. At one point of the livestream, he was seen trying to get up while appearing to look like he’s experiencing a lot of pain. 

The idol then confessed that he’d been feeling weak and experiencing chest discomfort recently. Because of this, Taeyong shared that he’s apprehensive as to how he’ll perform at the group’s August 26 concert. 

“I don’t know if I can perform well next week. I’m worried. I hope I get better by then,” he said. 

 

But what caused more worries among fans was that Taeyong had to fly out of the United States a day after his KCON LA 2023 stage to return to South Korea to resume his preparations for the group’s upcoming concert.

What frustrates fans even more was that the artist even arrived in the US on the day of his performance, proving that he’s following a very tight schedule. This incident then prompted discussions about NCT‘s hectic activities and well-being. 

Taeyong and his grueling schedule 

2023 saw Taeyong bloom as a solo artist while still doing promotions with NCT. 

In June, he made his highly-anticipated solo debut with the EP Shalala. Additionally, he also had solo schedules such as attending Paris Fashion Week and performing at the KCON LA 2023. 

 

On top of his solo ventures, he’s also actively participating with NCT’s group activities. In fact, he tried juggling his solo work and preparation for the group’s upcoming concert. 

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Taeyong was notably absent from a group photo taken during rehearsals. Since fans were getting perplexed about his whereabouts, the idol explained that he had to visit the hospital. 

Additionally, the artist disclosed through the online cafe that he had to receive treatment because of cold and high fever. Instead of focusing on his health, though, he was more fretful about missing the rehearsals. 

“There was no time to feel sick,” he wrote. 

Fans irked by SM Entertainment’s treatment of artists

Following Taeyong’s situation, fans took to social media to send their well wishes and prayers for the idol’s recovery. 

Moreover, many of them called out SM Entertainment for not putting their artist’s health and safety their priority. Several pointed out that the agency didn’t even updated fans about the idol’s health status.  

 

Several were also scrutinizing at how the label just let their artists continue to do a series of rigorous activities despite not being in their best health conditions. 

However, what angered fans the most is that Taeyong isn’t the only NCT member who’s not feeling well. Taeil will be taking hiatus from group activities after he sustained a fracture in his thigh because of a motorcycle . 

Aside from Taeyeong and Taeil, other members such as Winwin, Renjun, Haechan, Johnny, and Chenle were also experiencing health problems in the previous months.

Despite this, fans pointed out that SM Entertainment isn’t doing enough to make sure that their artists aren’t overworked.

Given that NCT has more scheduled activities set for the coming weeks, fans are asking for the agency to at least give the group a proper resting period.
