SEVENTEEN’s Jun Reveals Heartwarming Story Behind ‘Lie Lie Lie’ Cover

JUN might be an established K-pop idol now but there was a time when the SEVENTEEN member was just a trainee with big dreams. Interestingly, Wen Junhui reflected on his past after delivering a sweet cover of Lee Juck’s “Lie Lie Lie.” The Chinese idol shared how the song helped him connect with a random stranger who left a lasting impression.

Jun Shares Why ‘Lie Lie Lie’ Has a Special Connection To Him

In a recent episode of Lee Mujin‘s popular musical variety program “Leemujin Service”, JUN sang his own version of some classic songs. The second cover was Lee Juck’s “Lie Lie Lie” and the SEVENTEEN member shared why he chose to sing it.

According to JUN, he had trouble finding the confidence to sing when he was a trainee. In fact, he would often lose his voice when singing to a crowd. Since this would be a major hurdle for a K-pop idol, PLEDIS Entertainment decided to send Jun on a mission to face his fears.

He continued by sharing how he had to find someone in a crowd to listen to him sing. Although JUN was told he only had to sing the first verse, he admitted that finding a listener was difficult. The trainee was sent to the busy streets of Gangnam for almost an hour around lunchtime. Whenever he approached an individual, they would tell him they didn’t have time to listen.

Luckily for JUN, one older man stopped to listen to him. When the trainee declared that he would cover “Lie Lie Lie”, the man admitted that he was a Lee Juck fan. After listening to the future SEVENTEEN member, the man even gave some feedback. He reportedly praised JUN for his emotion but told him to practice his pronunciation.

JUN clearly appreciated the feedback and admitted he wanted to reconnect with his listener. “I wanted to thank him again if I have a second chance, but it’s hard to find him,” he admitted.

It’s a great story that confirms a kind gesture is always treasured. Hopefully, JUN will be able to reconnect with his random listener from his pre-debut days. In the meantime, SEVENTEEN is preparing for a comeback in October.

Look: Pledis Entertainment Launches ‘Wonder Teens’ Global Audition

PLEDIS Entertainment, home to K-pop groups SEVENTEEN and fromis_9, is on the lookout for their next idol superstars!

On Friday, August 25, the agency announced that they’re launching their Wonder Teens global audition.

Only individuals born after 2005 can audition. However, it is open to any gender and nationality.

Additionally, those who plan to audition can apply in four categories: vocal, rap, dance, and “confidence.” According to their website, the confidence category is open to anyone who can “showcase their talent and ability.”

“Based on the creativity and know-how to make dreams of performing at a global stage a reality, we are looking for the stars of the future,” PLEDIS Entertainment said in a press release.

The online auditions will run until September 17. Aspiring idols need to send their entries and fill the form through PLEDIS Entertainment’s website.

Those who will pass the first round of auditions will be notified of the results within two weeks. Then, they’ll have to go through a second set of auditions, which will be conducted in person or through a live call.

Moreover, this isn’t the first time that PLEDIS Entertainment opened their Wonder Teens global audition. In 2022, the agency held online auditions from March 18 to April 17 for individuals born after 2003.

Reportedly, successful applicants from the audition will be accepted as trainees under PLEDIS Entertainment and will be awarded a scholarship.

Back then, it was also reported that the agency is set to debut a new group in 2023. However, the agency has yet to confirm this.

 HYBE’s new set of idols

Currently, PLEDIS Entertainment only have SEVENTEEN and fromis_9 as the active groups under their roster.

However, the agency was also home to After School, NU’EST, and PRISTIN. PRISTIN disbanded in May 2019, while NU’EST disbanded in March 2022.

Although NU’EST has disbanded, members Hwang Min-hyun and Baekho stayed with Pledis Entertainment and pursued solo careers.

Interestingly, PLEDIS Entertainment is also a subsidiary label of HYBE. Other record labels under HYBE include BIGHIT Music, ADOR, Source Music, and KOZ Entertainment. Recently, HYBE also acquired BELIFT LAB, ENHYPEN’s agency.

Aside from PLEDIS Entertainment, BIGHIT Music and KOZ Entertainment have also launched their online auditions.

BIGHIT Music’s audition program is only open to male applicants born between 2005 and 2013. It will close on September 22. Meanwhile, auditions for KOZ Entertainment will run until November 18. Only individuals born after 2006 can apply.

Look: Seventeen Releases First Season of Artist-Made Collection

SEVENTEEN surprised fans by announcing that they’ll be releasing their first batch of artist-made collection!

Similar to BTS’ artist-made collection, this SEVENTEEN version will see each 13 members create their own set of merchandise.

From conceptualizing and planning the product to reviewing the samples, each merchandise in their collection was made with personal contribution of the SEVENTEEN members.

However, the release schedule for the artist-made collection of the members differ. The SEVENTEEN members were divided into three groups, whose collections will be released from 2023 to late 2024.

According to the scheduler released by HYBE MERCH, the division of the members and the release date are as follows:

  • Season 1 (September 2023): S.coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun
  • Season 2 (Early 2024): Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8
  • Season 3 (Late 2024): Mingyu, Vernon, DK, Dino, Seungkwan

The first season of SEVENTEEN’s artist-made collection will be available via offline and online stores.

Offline stores will run from September 1 to September 10. Meanwhile, the online selling will start on September 13. Additionally, the shipping schedules also vary for each regional retailer.

On the other hand, there’s still no other details about the second and third season of the artist-made collection for the rest of the SEVENTEEN members.

Moreover, HYBE MERCH also released a making log of how each product came to be.

S.coups’ collection

With the theme “bright after rain,” SEVENTEEN’s leader made a customized umbrella and glass set for CARATs.

“When it rains, I don’t usually feel very happy,” he said. “So I want you all to use the umbrella I made on a rainy day and feel a little bit better.”

The umbrella has bright doodles inside, while the glass set even has stickers and features that changes depending on the temperature. Seungcheol even joked that he’ll use the glass set often.

Jeonghan’s collection

As for Jeonghan, he mixed a bunny and a squirrel to make a character that represents him.

I want him to be bright and energetic but gets exhausted easily,” he said of Toram. Aside from his representative animals, Jeonghan also used wings as the ears for his character.

For his products, he had a stuffed animal of Toram that carries a blanket and a mood light.

After seeing the final products, Jeonghan said that he was so happy with the results. “i’ve always wanted to create my own character. And through this great opportunity, we got to create this after a long discussion,” he said.

Joshua’s collection

One of Joshua’s recent habits is making scents, as mentioned in SEVENTEEN’s In The Soop. So it was not surprising that he made a DIY perfume-making kit.

He said that it was a kit that includes different scents that he personally likes. “CARATs can mix the scents however they want,” he explained.

Among some of the scents included in his kit are vanilla, rose, woody notes, and citrus. What makes it even cuter is the scents had names associated to Joshua, such as “Sunday morning” and “deer.”

Juns collection

Most, if not all, CARATs knew that cats are Jun’s representative animal. And seems like the idol’s more than okay with it as he makes a cat-themed collection.

One of his two products are the phone cases. Jun said that since he changes phone cases often, he’d want to use the same style as CARATs.

Next are stuffed animals, cats, specifically. He explained it’s because he has been playing claw machines often lately.

CARATs, they’re all cute, right? Which one of them are you planning to get?

SEVENTEEN’s Hip Hop Team Get Floral in Japanese LP ‘Always Yours’ Teaser Photos

SEVENTEEN is generating excitement for their forthcoming Japanese album, ‘Always Yours.’ The Hip Hop Team is showing off their stunning visuals amidst gorgeous flowers in the latest teasers. Not surprisingly, S. Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon are channeling their soft side in the photos.

SEVENTEEN Hip Hop Team Show Off Their Soft Side In New ‘Always Yours’ Teasers

On August 20, SEVENTEEN unveiled a collection of captivating photo teasers to tease the Hip Hop Team’s arrival. These striking images feature S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon, immersed in a vibrant sea of flowers, exuding their youthful allure. The teasers offer a tantalizing glimpse into what promises to be a visually stunning and musically enchanting Japanese release.

With their unique blend of talent and charisma, SEVENTEEN continues to captivate fans both in Japan and around the world, and ‘Always Yours’ is poised to be another remarkable addition to their discography. The photos serve as a captivating prelude to what fans can expect from this highly anticipated album.

Although the images are hyping up CARATs for the upcoming release, there is also much concern about the Hip Hop Team leader. It was recently confirmed that S. Coups is taking a break to recuperate from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The SEVENTEEN leader was injured while filming content with the rest of the group. Once taken to the hospital, it was confirmed that Choi Seungcheol had suffered from a torn ACL and would need several months to recuperate.

For now, it looks like promotions for the new Japanese album will proceed without S. Coups. The rapper is expected to take a lengthy hiatus since recuperation from surgery could last almost a year. Nevertheless, fans are already looking forward to the new album.

Fans can anticipate an eagerly awaited Japanese compilation from SEVENTEEN. It includes their greatest hits, featuring past Japanese versions of songs, along with two fresh tracks: the original Japanese title “Ima -Even if the world ends tomorrow-“ and “Sara Sara,” as previously teased in the highlight medley. ‘Always Yours’ will be released on August 23, 2023.

SEVENTEEN Fans React To S. Coups Torn ACL Surgery

S. Coups is taking a break to recover from a recent injury. It was recently announced that the SEVENTEEN leader suffered from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) after injuring his left knee. Since the announcement, CARATs have been sharing their thoughts about Choi Seungcheol’s injury. Most fans are expressing their concern for the rapper after realizing he would be on hiatus for several months.

On August 17, PLEDIS Entertainment issued a statement confirming the SEVENTEEN member’s injury. According to the agency, S. Coups was injured while filming content with the rest of the group. Once taken to the hospital, it was confirmed that Choi Seungcheol had suffered from a torn ACL and would need several months to recuperate.

The statement further confirmed that Choi will be going through necessary medical treatment prior to the knee surgery. Unfortunately, this meant that S. Coups will not participate in group activities until he is fully recovered.

CARATs React To S. Coups’ Latest Injury

Not surprisingly, fans met the news with mixed reactions. Although several CARATS were quick to wish S. Coups to get better soon, others worried that he would be out of the spotlight for almost a year. It was noted that recovering from a torn ACL could last six to nine months at most. This means the SEVENTEEN rapper will have to halt promotions until early next year.

This isn’t the first time that S. Coups had to stay away from the limelight due to an injury. In 2021, he had to withdraw from promotions for the EP “Your Choice” after sustaining injuries from a fall. According to reports, Choi injured his right shoulder and had additional abrasions and cuts to his right ear, chin, and forehead. However, he was able to return and continue promoting with the group.

SEVENTEEN recently held a two-day concert titled “Follow” at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome.
