NewJeans Minji Discusses Tokyo Dome Fan Meeting

Minji recently graced the pages of Vogue Korea magazine with a stunning pictorial! In the accompanying interview, the NewJeans member spoke about how she felt during the recent Tokyo Dome fan meeting.

Minji Admits Being Excited About NewJeans’ Tokyo Dome Fan Meeting

Following the photo shoot, Minji took a moment to chat about her group’s recent fan meeting “Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome” and NewJean’s sense of style.

The conversation kicked off with Minji reflecting on her recent busy schedule, which included NewJeans’ debut in Japan and the release of their new song “Supernatural,” as well as being appointed honorary ambassadors for Korean tourism.

Despite the hectic nature of these activities, Minji revealed a surprising focus: “Honestly, if I were to tell you the truth—today’s lunch menu? When you’re busy or focused on one thing, it’s easy to overlook and make mistakes on the obvious things. I try to take care of the little things.

Minji’s solo performance of Vaundy’s “Odoriko” at the Tokyo Dome was a standout moment that received great acclaim. She reflected on how it felt to fill such a vast stage by herself with one of her favorite songs, saying, “I was truly happy! Even during the rehearsal on the day of the performance, I was worried about how to present the stage. But once I got up there, my body just moved on its own. Focusing on my emotions and the energy exchange with the fans made me feel lighter.”

NewJeans Fashion

NewJeans is known for embracing retro trends, which resonate differently with various generations. Some find the music, dance, and items from the past nostalgic, while others see them as new and cool. Discussing where NewJeans gets their inspiration for retro fashion and music, Minji explained, “For some, these might be familiar, but for me, everything we present as NewJeans feels new. It’s always fresh and exciting.”

Minji’s interview with Vogue Korea not only showcased her thoughtful and reflective nature but also highlighted her excitement and dedication to her craft. Her ability to balance a busy schedule while staying grounded and focused on the small details is a testament to her professionalism and passion for music.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie Teases New Music in Vogue Korea Interview

BLACKPINK’s Jennie recently graced the digital cover of Korean Vogue’s May 2024 issue, where she shared exciting details about her upcoming projects and personal growth. She dazzled BLINKS not just with her words but also with her striking visuals in a summer-inspired, water-themed photoshoot, for which the BLACKPINK member donned jewelry worth millions from Chanel.

In the interview, Jennie opened up about what made her want to start her own independent label. “As someone whose every move is in the public eye, it’s my job to put on a new face every time, and I’m always thinking, ‘What can I do differently this time?’ I wanted to create a space where I could immerse myself in that. Whenever anyone comes up with a new idea, they share it, and everyone is happy where they are. I believe that when the two meet, there will be good synergy, and good synergy will create attention-grabbing newness,” she said of Odd Atelier.

She also reflected on her relationship with her mother. “My mom is very supportive of whatever I do, and we’ve talked a lot about it this year, and it’s been really helpful for me to hear that I don’t have to worry about it, that I can just be me and it will shine through.”

Jennie talks ‘Slow Motion,’ self-acceptance

March saw Jennie release “Slow Motion,” a surprise single in collaboration with American singer-songwriter Matt Champion. Describing her experience, she said the fun they had in the studio played a big part in the song’s success.

“I’ve always loved Matt’s group, and I’ve always loved his voice in particular, so we just kind of stumbled into each other and started hanging out in the studio and writing songs. We had amazing chemistry and had a lot of fun working together. It was a seamless process, and I think that’s what made it come out so well.”

Jennie also talked about her journey of self-acceptance.

“This is something I struggle with all the time, and I think it comes down to choosing what’s ‘me.’ I always try new things because I know my fans will support every challenge I take on, but the most important thing is that it’s ‘me.’ It’s so much more fun for me when I can show what I’m going for without feeling forced, and the results are so much better,” she said earnestly. “I had a really busy year last year, touring all over the world, but after it was over, I took a break in Korea to recharge my batteries. I meditated, lay in bed, listened to my favorite music, and just enjoyed the time. I’m always happiest when I come home from the gym and focus on just me.”

Flying solo

Since the magazine hit bookstores and newsstands, she has attended the Met Gala and released a viral collab with Zico. Titled “SPOT!,” the song quickly climbed to the top of the charts in South Korea. It also reached the number one spot on iTunes Top Songs charts in over 31 regions globally, including countries like Taiwan, Thailand, Chile, and Indonesia. In the US, it debuted atop Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart. Jennie earned her first solo leader on this specific chart several years ago. She first topped the World Digital Song Sales chart in 2018 with her aptly-titled “Solo” single.

With two No. 1s under her belt, Jennie has become one of the most successful South Korean female soloists in the history of the World Digital Song Sales chart. As a member of BLACKPINK, Jennie has topped this chart many times before. Now that she’s flying solo—pun intended—she’s determined to make more good music that will take her to the top of this and other charts around the world.

She ended the interview by hinting that she may make a comeback sooner rather than later. “I’ve been spending almost every waking hour of my day working on my music lately, and it’s been flying by. I’ve been working hard with more ambition and a desire to share my music with more people, so stay tuned, and I’ll be back in great shape,” she said.

This year promises to be a thrilling one for Jennie and her fans as she continues to evolve both as an artist and an individual. Stay tuned for more updates on her journey and upcoming music. – K-Pop News Writer

Shownu Hypes Up MONSTA X Subunit With Hyungwon

Shownu is getting ready for his first major project since his military discharge. The MONSTA X leader is hyping up the group’s first subunit with fellow member Hyungwon. In addition to that, Son Hyunwoo shared his thoughts on seeing his fellow members doing promotions during his military service.

Shownu Shares Details On First MONSTA X Subunit With Hyungwon

Vogue Korea recently unveiled photos from Shownu’s latest photoshoot for the magazine. In the accompanying interview, the MONSTA X main dancer discussed the plans for the group’s first subunit. Shownu revealed that Hyungwon has already written songs for the new group unit.

They’re all good. When I ask for song recommendations, he sends them through KakaoTalk and he mainly listens to songs he could’ve written. Good and modern music,” he said.

He also confirmed that he and Hyungwon have a great bond that will make their new subunit work well.

“What’s great about when I’m with Hyungwon is that I’m comfortable. The reason we hang out often is just because it’s comfortable,” Shownu said. “We don’t speak much and don’t bother each other.”

Good synergy can be created when you’re uncomfortable, but since we have a comfortable relationship I’m not sure what kind of chemistry will come out,” he said.

“We’re both not the greedy type and have similar body types. I have a desire to showcase good performances and visuals but nothing’s been decided yet,” Shownu added.

Shownu Opens Up About Watching MONSTA X Perform Without Him

The still-unnamed subunit will be Shownu’s first major project since his return from military service. However, he admitted that he also enjoyed seeing the other MONSTA X members’ promotions while he was serving the country.

I was curious about their performance and my members’ conditions but it was all incredibly cool,” Shownu said. “Since I know that the first week [of promotions] is the hardest, I watched while assuming they were exhausted but also thinking ‘this is interesting!‘”

He then added that being able to watch his fellow members from afar was refreshing.

“I did slightly miss the anticipation of preparing an album from the perspective of a singer but it was fun watching from the perspective of a fan,” he said.

The first MONSTA X subunit with Shownu and Hyungwon is expected to debut in the Summer of 2023.

Woozi Discusses Writing Process and Producing Music For SEVENTEEN

Woozi is opening up about his writing process and the importance of producing music for his group. The SEVENTEEN vocalist also discussed what it is like dealing with fellow members. Lee Jihoon revealed what Hoshi and Vernon are like as artists from a producer’s point of view.

Woozi Opens Up About Producing SEVENTEEN’s Songs

SEVENTEEN members Hoshi, Woozi, and Vernon recently featured in a stunning pictorial for Vogue Korea. In the accompanying interview, Lee Jihoon admitted he has an odd writing process.

“I have bad handwriting, so I write memos on my phone or computer instead of taking analog notes,” he said. “[I wonder], ‘What state was I in at the time to have written this?’ It doesn’t feel like me. I’m glad to leave [notes] like this. It’s like scribbling about me.”

Woozi also confessed that writing on his own is comforting for him.

“It’s embarrassing and embarrassing to say, but it’s definitely there. I am comforted by the lyrics I wrote. People will laugh when they see it, but it is a very moving moment for me. In fact, it often happens,” he said with a laugh.

Woozi Describes SEVENTEEN’s Vernon and Hoshi as Artists

The leader of SEVENTEEN’s Vocal Team also revealed that each member has their own distinct quality as an artist. He discussed Vernon and Hoshi in particular, confirming that he believes they are unique in their own way.

Vernon is like a rock. No matter what part he is assigned, I believe that he will pull it off. He is sturdy, reliable, and makes me feel relieved,” Lee Jihoon said.

Of Kwon Soonyoung, Woozi said, “Hoshi is intense. As a producer, he keeps raising the expectations for the player. But Hoshi shows how he goes a step further than that. That is how much he is overflowing with passion. I admire him.”

SEVENTEEN is currently promoting their latest EP ‘FML’ and its two lead singles “F*ck My Life” and “Super”.
