MONSTA X’s Shownu Makes Runway Debut at New York Fashion Week

Make way for model Shownu! Last February 14, Shownu of the K-pop boy group Monsta X left fans in awe with his jaw-dropping visuals as he made his runway debut at the New York Fashion Week.

In one of his looks, the K-pop idol flaunted his toned body in a black cropped jacket. Notably, the stint proved that his versatility as a performer goes beyond his singing and dancing abilities. 

 

To note, Shownu, whose real name is Son Hyun-Woo, made an appearance as an ambassador and a model for the Concept Korea 2024 F/W. For those unaware, Concept Korea is a platform given to Korean fashion designers to showcase their works internationally, and this time, in the prestigious fashion event. 

Another testament to his global influence, Shownu also appeared in Concept Korea’s global campaign video which was broadcasted in the ever popular Times Square.

During the stint, the Monsta X leader expressed his gratitude with the rare opportunity. According to South Korean reports, he shared that it was fun to have experienced a new field he had never tried before. “It was a very meaningful time to participate as an ambassador representing Korean fashion,” he added.

After seeing Shownu excel in another field apart from being an idol, fans, especially Monsta X’s fanbase, Monbebes, can’t help but be proud of the singer.

On social media, Monbebes showered the artist with positive comments as they trended the hashtag #Shownu_NY_FashionWeek. “You did an amazing job on the runway. You are an icon and a legend,” one fan wrote.

Moreover, other fans also complimented him as he showed an amazing performance as a model. “That’s how you make your NYFW runway debut,” one said. Meanwhile another called him the main event of the show.

Another fan took the time to appreciate the idol’s progress over the years as he went from being an invited guest who watched on the sidelines in 2016 to becoming an ambassador who walked the runway in 2024.

In other news, Shownu is also set to make his musical theater debut in the upcoming production The Great Comet which will begin its run in the last week of March.

Stray Kids’ Felix Appears in LV Fashion Film for Harper’s Bazaar Japan

On February 20, fans of Stray Kids member Felix enjoyed a fashion spectacle as the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar Japan hit the stands. The April issue is available in two versions: the standard edition and the special edition. The standard edition features Felix on the cover in an outfit adorned with pink stripes and a purple houndstooth print, while the special edition showcases the idol in a striking all-black ensemble, consisting of classic black trousers paired with a black top.

Accompanying the magazine’s release was a fashion film on Harper’s Bazaar Japan’s official YouTube channel. The film spotlighted Felix’s collaboration with the esteemed fashion house, Louis Vuitton. In the 30-second video, the Stray Kids member rocked colorful and monochromatic outfits. Everything he wore in the video came from Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection for women. Felix owned every item he wore

Felix astounded fans as he strutted his stuff in the fashion film, challenging conventional norms surrounding gendered clothing. Whether it was a chic black flowy top with the iconic LV monogram or a stylish white top with pink sleeves, Felix owned every item he wore.

As soon as the fashion film dropped, the dancer-rapper’s visuals immediately captivated fans, with one enthusiast describing him as “the literal definition of ethereal.” Despite its brief duration, the clip caused a stir among fans. They sent the hashtag #FelixOnFire to the top of the Trending Topics list on X. STAYs flooded other platforms with a sea of compliments and messages praising his performance in the fashion film.

Calvin Klein Reportedly Spent 10M USD on Jungkook’s New Ad

Calvin Klein’s new ad for their Spring/Summer 2024 collection took social media by storm upon its release on February 14. The seven-second ad, set to the tune of Iggy Pop’s 1977 single “The Passenger,” features BTS’s Jungkook moving and grooving through Grand Central Station. Normally one of the busiest places in New York City, the station was empty on the day of filming. Calvin Klein reportedly paid approximately 10 million USD to close down the station just so Jungkook could film in peace.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) acquired Grand Central Station for 33 million USD in May 2020. Anyone wishing to film on the premises must obtain permission from the MTA. The process involves completing an application. Only then will the MTA and Metro-North Railroad grant permission for the space to become a filming set. Sources indicate that the cost of shutting down the station for filming could range from 5 million to 10 million USD. This is due to the expenses per hour and additional costs like permits, estimated at around 500,000 USD.

The ad itself features Jungkook looking stylish in an oversized black half-sleeved shirt and black jeans, with the shirt unbuttoned to reveal his chiseled torso. A silver chain complemented his outfit. The ad ends with Jungkook beside a piano in the middle of Grand Central Station, with the location’s iconic clock in the background.

Jungkook‘s participation in this high-profile ad campaign comes just after his enlistment in the Republic of Korea Army on December 12, 2023, where he has been assigned to the 5th Infantry Division. He’s expected to return to the entertainment industry in June 2025, alongside fellow BTS member Jimin. Jimin enlisted with Jungkook on December 12, 2023. They signed up for the South Korean military’s “동반입대” (dongbanipdae) or buddy system, allowing them to train and live together for the duration of their service.

The fact that Calvin Klein was willing to spend so much money on Jungkook‘s campaign indicates they see it as a worthwhile investment. After all, despite his absence from the entertainment scene due to military service, Jungkook remains overwhelmingly popular.
