Suzy Explains Doona’s Hime Hairstyle in Netflix Series

There is little doubt that Lee Doona was truly brought to life in “Doona!” and this was made possible by the talented Bae Suzy. However, there were some details from the webtoon that didn’t appear in the Netflix series. For instance, the live-action Doona sports a pretty hime hairstyle in the show. Interestingly, Suzy revealed the reason why her character looks slightly different from the MIN SONGA manhwa.

Suzy Explains Doona’s Hime Hairstyle

Suzy recently took part in Netflix’s “Lookbook” series where she discussed the different styles she wore as Lee Doona in the show. She confirmed that her character was not simply confined to one definitive look.

“Considering Doona’s situation, changing her style tailored to it is one of the points to watch for,” Suzy said.

She then discussed the hime hairstyle, or princess cut, which is very different from the character’s original look in the webtoon. Interestingly, the “Vagabond” star admitted that it was her idea to change Doona’s hairstyle for the Netflix series.

“In the webtoon, Doona doesn’t have a hime cut, but a full-bang and wavy hair,” Suzy said. “That’s a style I used to do often though, and since Doona is not a person with a general personality, I wanted to try a hair that’s a little unusual.”

“That’s why I challenged myself, and I decided to make the final decision because it fits well with Doona’s image,” she continued.

It’s great to know that Suzy was fully involved in the development of the character and made sure Lee Doona would be unique in her own right. With that in mind, it makes for a better understanding of the character in the series.

“Doona!” is a romantic drama series based on a beloved webtoon with the same title. The story centers around the experiences of Lee Doona, a former idol as she encounters Lee Wonjun, a regular college student, in a shared living arrangement. The series is now streaming on Netflix.

Nam Joo Hyuk Discusses Preparations for Action Drama ‘Vigilante’

Nam Joo Hyuk is taking on a challenging new role in an upcoming action drama. The “Twenty-Five Twenty-One” star has revealed why he decided to take on the role of a young police academy student in the new Disney+ show. In addition to that, Nam revealed his intense preparations to become the titular “Vigilante”.

Nam Joo Hyuk Talks About New Action Drama

Disney+ has shared new stills from “Vigilante” and all of them put the focus on Nam Joo Hyuk. Moreover, the streaming service shared the actor’s insights on his upcoming role of Kim Ji Yong, a man who lives as a police academy student by day but takes on the role of a vigilante by night. But what drew Nam to the project? As it turns out, he knew about the story before it was adapted into an action drama.

“‘Vigilante’ was a webtoon I really liked, and I decided to star in the drama because I had a strong desire to portray the character Kim Ji Yong,” he said.

Nam also addressed how he went through an intense regimen so he could take on the role considering this would be his first action drama.

“Since it’s my first action project, I had many discussions with the martial arts team about the details throughout filming,” he said. “I believed that my character should exhibit a distinct vibe when in a police uniform compared to his Vigilante persona. When portraying the character in his Vigilante role, I focused on presenting a somewhat darker and more solemn figure. Instead of overtly displaying emotions, I tried to act by internalizing those emotions.”

What is ‘Vigilante’ About?

“Vigilante” follows the story of Kim Ji Yong (portrayed by Nam Joo Hyuk), a model police university student who champions justice during the day but transforms into a vigilante at night. When confronting criminals who have evaded the grasp of the law, he takes justice into his own hands.

From a tender age, Kim Ji Yong suffered the heart-wrenching loss of his mother, a victim of the brutal acts committed by local thugs. Observing these malefactors returning to their criminal ways, even after being shown leniency and released from incarceration, Kim Ji Yong adopts a solemn mission: to deliver his own judgment upon those criminals who have managed to evade legal consequences.

“Vigilante” will premiere on Disney+ on November 8, 2023.

Suzy Reveals Emotional Connection With ‘Doona!’ Character

Bae Suzy has taken on a lot of memorable roles but her new character in “Doona!” is the one that hits closest to home. Not surprisingly, the former Miss A member admitted that she has an emotional connection to Lee Doona in the upcoming Netflix series.

Bae Suzy Admits Emotional Connection With Lee Doona

In a new interview with Cosmopolitan Korea, Suzy discussed her new drama series “Doona!” which is set to premiere on Netflix later in October. Interestingly, the “Anna” actress pointed out her similarities with the character Lee Doona, admitting that she felt an emotional connection to the role.

“Our experiences differed, yet, I felt a deep understanding of Doona’s journey, which in many ways reignited memories of my early idol days,” Suzy said.

“In my early twenties, I didn’t have the chance to truly understand or express my pain like Doona,” she continued. “My emotions were bottled up, unlike Doona, who allows herself to experience her emotions fully, even when they’re painful. Doona also isn’t afraid to show her somewhat malicious side that intentionally speaks harsh words. Ironically, this side of her persona is what makes acting thrilling.”

But what if Suzy went through the same thing as Doona, choosing college life over her career? The “Vagabond” star jokingly stated that it would have been enjoyable.

“I think I would have lived quite well, enjoying life perhaps more than most,” she said.

“Doona!” is a romantic drama series based on a beloved webtoon with the same title.
