TWICE’s Chaeyoung Admits Jihyo Still Makes Her Feel Awkward

TWICE’s Chaeyoung revealed that despite the time she spent together with the group, there is a member she still feels awkward with. Amazingly, Chaeyoung admitted that she still addresses Jihyo formally although they have worked together for more than eight years.

Chaeyoung recently made an appearance on Jeon Somi‘s innovative variety show, “Yes Or Hot,” where guests engage in a unique Q&A session. Their enduring friendship was evident, with Chaeyoung having attended Somi’s recent release party. As they progressed to the second, spicier round of questions, the atmosphere grew more intriguing. Somi wasted no time and probed Chaeyoung about any lingering awkwardness with a fellow member.

Initially, Chaeyoung hesitated to disclose the member’s identity. However, when Somi pressed for a hint by asking for the first letter of the member’s name, Chaeyoung held back, realizing it could unveil too much.

Still, Chaeyoung finally revealed that the member in question was Jihyo, highlighting that she still maintains a formal tone when communicating with her. The TWICE member added that she does this because Jihyo is the group’s leader. Jeon Somi agreed, stating that Jihyo is a cool person.

Wow! Twice’s Jihyo Makes Her Billboard 200 Debut in Top 14

TWICE’s Jihyo stunned the music industry with her solo debut album Zone, which was released on August 18. 

Following the release of her solo album, the leader of JYPE’s 9-member girl group set an impressive record as Zone debuts at #14 in Billboard 200

The US-based charts announced on Tuesday, August 29, that the solo album of TWICE’s Jihyo recorded a total of 41,000 units in its first week. 

 

With this, Jihyo becomes the only second female K-pop soloist to enter the Top 100 of the Billboard 200

Interestingly, Jihyo joins fellow TWICE member Nayeon, who made her No. 7 debut on the Billboard 200 chart in August 2022 with her solo debut album IM NAYEON. Coincidentally, Nayeon and Jihyo are the first two TWICE members to release their solo albums.

Additionally, Jihyo also made history in other Billboard charts including Billboard’s Artist 100 where she debuted at No. 10. She once again became the second female K-Pop soloist to enter the Top 50, following Nayeon who debuted at No. 5 last year.

 

Zone also debuted at No. 2  on Billboard’s World Albums chart. It also  bagged the fourth spot on both the Top Album Sales and Top Current Album Sales charts.

Local album sales tracker Hanteo Chart also shared that Zone sold over 534,585 copies just a week since its release.

With this, Zone became the highest-selling mini album in the first week of its release, making Jihyo the first K-pop female soloist to achieve this feat.

11 years in the Making

Jihyo’s career as an idol was never easy as she once admitted she almost quit as a trainee. The singer trained for 11 years before finally debuting in TWICE.

“I ran away once because it was so hard. I ran away from home,” she said.

Luckily, Jihyo surpassed all the hardships and debuted as a singer. Now, Jihyo actively promotes her first album in various TV programs in the midst of group activities.

The vocalist’s debut solo EP consists of seven tracks including its lead single “Killin’ Me Good,” which continues to thrive on various streaming platforms worldwide.

The title track entered Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart at No. 11, and topped Spotify’s Top Song Debut Global chart.

 

Other tracks in the album are Closer”, “Waiting On You”, “Room”, andNightmare.” Moreover, Zone saw Jihyo collaborating with two artists. The song Talkin’ About It” featured American rapper 24kGoldn, while she had a duet with Korean soloist Heize for the track “Don’t Wanna Go Back.”

This upcoming September, TWICE is also set to showcase their astounding performances at the Asia and Europe leg of their 5th World Tour Ready To Be.

TWICE Jihyo Admits She Almost Quit As A Trainee

Being an idol is a dream come true for most people but for Jihyo, it was an ambition that was almost too much. The TWICE leader has just revealed that she considered quitting when she was just a trainee. It was so bad that Park Ji Hyo actually ran away from her company!

Jihyo Opens Up About the Difficulties of Being a JYPE Trainee

During the August 21st episode of “Neighborhood Friend Kangnam,” Jihyo teamed up with the show’s host Kangnam to create a delectable crepe cake. Amid the culinary adventure, the TWICE member shared a captivating story from her trainee days, adding a personal touch to the episode.

“I actually used to be a pig,” she revealed. “I don’t worry about things like this. As long as it tastes good.”

The carefree attitude was something that Park Ji Hyo had for years before she became a trainee. “I was a trainee for 11 years,” she shared. The TWICE leader then admitted that there was a time that she tried to escape her own company.

“I ran away once because it was so hard. I ran away from home,” she shared. “When I was in my third year of high school, I ran away to my aunt’s house, but I got caught.”

Jihyo reflected on her actions and the difficult time she faced as an aspiring idol. “It was so hard right before our debut,” she said. “If I think about it now, I seriously could’ve messed things up.”

Luckily, things changed for the girl who was born Park Ji-soo. After she debuted with TWICE, things have been looking up for the former model.

In a June 2023 announcement, it was revealed that Jihyo was set to launch her debut EP, titled “Zone,” on August 18, 2023. The EP’s leading single, “Killin’ Me Good,” was disclosed as part of the announcement, marking Jihyo as the second member of TWICE to embark on a solo debut journey. Notably, before this official revelation, Jihyo had already treated fans to a sneak peek of her upcoming work by performing an unreleased track titled “Nightmare” during Twice’s “Ready to Be World Tour.”

God Jihyo is in the house! The TWICE leader officially made her solo debut on August 18 with the release of her album ZONE

Meanwhile, Jihyo’s solo debut title track Killin’ Me Good” is a tempo R&B song that talks about the ups and downs of a relationship. In the music video, she went from being giddy in her relationship to navigating a breakup. 

 

Additionally, Jihyo not only impressed the audience with her powerful vocals, but also with her sleek dancing skills. 

One main point of her choreography was a motion resembling a finger gun. “You’re killin’ me, killin’ me good,” she sings pointedly in the title track. “You’re makin’ me feel something new / Hey, you’re makin’ me feel so brand new.”

Killin’ Me Good” is written by J.Y. Park and composed by Marc Lo, Melanie Fontana, Lindgren, and GG Ramirez. 

Jihyo’s solo debut 

Following the release of her album, Jihyo’s fellow TWICE members showed their support for her solo track by doing the Killin’ Me Good” challenge. 

Aside from Killin’ Me Good,” ZONE also has six other tracks. To which, Jihyo participated in penning the lyrics and composing for the B-side songs. 

It also featured two collaborations. Jihyo worked with American singer 24kGoldn for the song Talkin’ About It,” while she worked with Korean soloist Heize for the song Don’t Wanna Go Back.”

In an interview with Grammy, the TWICE vocalist revealed that she’s “nervous and excited” for her solo debut. 

Additionally, she also talked about her involvement in the creation of the songs for her solo album.

“I wanted to diversify as much as possible so that listeners can have fun while listening to my album. Each song has a different genre and feel to it,” she said. 

Despite having doubts at first, Jihyo said that she’d regret it more if she didn’t give her all in this solo release. “I wanted to focus on the process and I wanted to focus on doing my best,” she said. 

Jihyo is the second member of TWICE to make a solo debut, following Nayeon. Meanwhile, Jihyo shared that Nayeon also gave her  some advice on being a soloist.

Currently, TWICE is embarking on their READY TO BE concert tour, wherein they made history as the first K-pop girl group to sell out at a stadium in North America.

Twice’s Jihyo Drops Tracklist for Solo Debut Album ‘Zone’

Jihyo of K-pop girl group TWICE unveiled on Sunday, July 30, the full tracklist for her upcoming solo debut mini-album ZONE — and ONCEs are already looking forward to all her songs. 

According to the list, the album contains a total of seven songs, with Killin’ Me Good” as the title track.

ZONE will also feature a collaboration between Jihyo and American singer 24kGoldn for the song “Talkin’ About It” and a duet with Korean soloist Heize for the song Don’t Wanna Go Back.”

Other songs include “Closer,” “Wishing On You,” “Room,” and “Nightmare.” In fact, “Nightmareis already a song familiar to ONCEs as it is already Jihyo’s solo stage for TWICE’s fifth world tour READY TO BE. 

But what really excited ONCEs is seeing the credits in the track list. According to the list, Jihyo helped in penning the lyrics in five out of the seven tracks in the album. She is also credited as a composer in four songs in the album. 

 

Jihyo has also released audio snippets for her songs in ZONE, which heightens the anticipation of the fans for the album’s release. 

 

ZONE will be available on August 18. 

Park Jihyo will be the second member of TWICE to make her debut as a solo artist. In June 2022, Nayeon released her first solo EP Im Nayeon.

TWICE’s Japanese members Momo, Mina, and Sana also made their sub-unit debut in July with the Japanese mini-album Masterpiece.

Currently, TWICE is embarking on their READY TO BE concert tour, wherein they made history as the first K-pop girl group to sell out at a stadium in North America.

TWICE Confirms Jihyo Solo Debut in August

It’s official: Jihyo is preparing for her solo debut! The TWICE leader will debut as a solo artist with ‘KILLIN’ ME GOOD’ in August. Park Ji Hyo will be the second member of TWICE to release a solo since Nayeon’s solo debut last year.

Jihyo’s Solo Debut ‘KILLIN’ ME GOOD’ Confirmed For August 2023

The official TWICE social media accounts shared the new teaser for ‘KILLIN’ ME GOOD’. This time, the poster features Jihyo applying lipstick in the rearview mirror of her car. The caption reads, “ZYO’s ZONE ‘Killin’ Me Good’ Coming Soon This August.”

This confirms all the fan theories about ‘KILLIN’ ME GOOD’ since the first teaser was dropped. Fans believed that the teaser is not for a TWICE comeback. Instead, ONCEs got excited about Jihyo’s possible solo debut. Luckily, the fans were right about their hopes.

Jihyo’s solo debut is not a huge surprise for ONCEs who have been attending TWICE’s Ready To Be World Tour. During their concerts, Jihyo had been performing a previously unreleased track “Nightmare”. There have been speculations that the song will be part of her upcoming solo debut.

Park Ji Hyo will be the second member of TWICE to debut as a solo artist. In May 2022, Nayeon announced the release of her first solo EP “Im Nayeon” which was released in June of that year. The mini-album was the first album by a South Korean soloist to reach the top ten on the US Billboard 200.

TWICE is currently on the North American leg of their Ready To Be World Tour which kicks off in Inglewood, California on June 10, 2023. The US leg will conclude in Atlanta, Georgia on July 9, giving Jihyo enough time to prepare for her solo debut.

The official TWICE social media accounts shared the new teaser. The image only features a woman’s hand on a car’s steering wheel. Additionally, the caption simply says, “You’re killin’ me good. August 2023”.

It’s a mysterious yet exciting tease considering that ONCEs are already looking forward to TWICE’s next comeback. However, fans also believed this might not be a full-group project. There are speculations that the teaser is for one specific member’s solo debut.

Is ‘Killin’ Me Good’ A TWICE Comeback Or Jihyo’s Solo Debut?

Some fans believe that “Killin’ Me Good” is actually for Jihyo’s solo debut. People have discovered that the file name for the image was “JH-M1”, which is believed to mean “Jihyo-1st mini album.”

The idea of a member finally getting another solo debut is an exciting one for ONCEs. Nayeon had previously released her solo debut EP ‘Im Nayeon’ back in 2022. Hopefully, TWICE leader Jihyo will get her time to shine later this year.

For now, the details about the mysterious “Killin’ Me Good” project have not yet been revealed. However, new information could be released in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

In the meantime, the Japanese members of TWICE are preparing for their subunit’s debut. Mina, Sana, and Momo have previously been confirmed to debut as the subunit MiSaMo. The trio released an original soundtrack titled “Bouquet” for TV Asahi’s drama series “Liaison: Children’s Heart Clinic” in January 2023. Their debut EP, which will consist of six new songs, will finally be released on July 26, 2023.
