SEVENTEEN to Appear in Na PD’s ‘Waggle Waggle’

CARATs are in for a treat as K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN is collaborating anew with  Na Young Seok, aka Na PD, for the upcoming variety show Waggle Waggle.

On Wednesday, October 25, a teaser for the episode was released. In the video, SEVENTEEN’s Wonwoo is seen inviting the rest of the members to have a one-on-one drinking session with him.

As seen in the exchanges, members DK, Minghao, and Woozi rejected the offer, while Vernon didn’t pick up his call. But Seungkwan, one of the members who is active in variety shows, was quick to point out that Wonwoo is inviting them because he’s filming a show.

“I need to contact a few people on a regular basis,” the rapper noted.

Prior to the teaser, Na PD has first revealed that he filmed a new variety show with SEVENTEEN through a YouTube live.

During the live session, it was disclosed that he had dinner with the group and exchanged stories while drinking beer. At one point, he even hinted that fans should anticipate a face-off between members Seungkwan and Hoshi in Waggle Waggle.

To the fans’ delight, Na PD also assured fans that leader S.coups, who’s on a break due to health concerns, appeared in Waggle Waggle.

Other details about the show are still kept under wraps but the Waggle Waggle episode featuring SEVENTEEN is set to premiere on Saturday, October 28.

‘Waggle Waggle’ and more: SEVENTEEN x Na PD’s collab

Following the news, K-pop fans and entertainment show enthusiasts can’t help but be excited as both SEVENTEEN and Na PD are known for their variety chops.

For instance, the K-pop group’s own web series Going Seventeen has gained a fandom of its own. Meanwhile, Na PD is already a known figure in South Korean entertainment. Notably, he’s the one behind successful variety programs such as 2 Days & 1 Night, Grandpas Over Flowers, New Journey to the West, and Three Meals a Day.

Moreover, this marks another collaboration between SEVENTEEN and Na PD for 2023 alone. A proof that the two parties have formed a tight bond.

In early 2023, SEVENTEEN appeared in Na PD’s Youtube series The Game Caterers 2. There, the group luckily won two wishes. One of which is making Na PD do a dance challenge for “Superwhile the other is starring in their Youth Over Flowers own episode.

In September, the group was confirmed to have filmed for the series in Europe. For those unfamiliar, Youth Over Flowers is a travel variety show wherein the staff tricked the cast members into spontaneous trips.

As of writing, Na PD has yet to announce a release date for SEVENTEEN’s Youth Over Flowers.

Seventeen’s Mingyu to Take Temporary Break Due to Health Concerns

Mingyu of K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN won’t be participating in promotional activities for their album SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN in the coming days due to health concerns.

On Thursday, October 26, PLEDIS Entertainment released a statement about the rapper’s health condition.

According to the agency, Mingyu experienced a “sudden, crippling lower back pain that warranted medical treatment.” After his medical examination, the healthcare staff advised the idol to “take time off and have his recovery process monitored.”

Moreover, PLEDIS Entertainment continued that the artist expressed his desire to still push through with the scheduled activities. However, to accommodate his recovery, the company has decided to exercise flexibility in the idol’s participation throughout the promotion period.

With this, the agency announced that Mingyu will be missing out the music shows and fansign events set for this week. Notably, PLEDIS Entertainment assured fans that they will provide updates on when the artist will return to his activities.

“We will do our best to aid Mingyu in his recovery so that he may return in full health to his fans as soon as possible,” they added.

Mingyu and S.coups sit out promotions for ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’

Following the news, Mingyu took to Weverse to apologize to the SEVENTEEN members.

But the rest of the group were quick to admonish the need for an apology, emphasizing that they should focus on taking care of themselves first.

Even S.coups, who’s also sitting out the promotional activities for the group’s 11th mini-album, left a comment. “Let’s not get sick, health come first,” he wrote.

To note, the SEVENTEEN leader sustained a tear in his left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) resulting in him needing surgery. As he’s currently focusing on rehabilitation and treatment, PLEDIS Entertainment has earlier announced that he won’t be active for group promotions this time around.

On October 23, SEVENTEEN released the album SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, which carries the title track “God of Music.” Interestingly, the album has set several records for the K-pop group already.

SEVENTEEN’s ‘God of Music’ Becomes Latest Banned Song During CSAT Exam Season

SEVENTEEN has another hit in their hands but the success of “God of Music” might be too good for students. The new track has just been deemed “banned” during the CSAT exam season!

In South Korea, there exists an unofficial list of songs that are often referred to as “banned” among students due to their irresistibly catchy and addictive nature. This list typically includes tracks like SF9’s “O Sole Mio,” SHINee’s “Ring Ding Dong,” BTS’s “Go Go,” aespa’s “Next Level,” and many others. Now, it seems there is a new addition to this list, and it hails from the popular group SEVENTEEN.

SEVENTEEN’s Latest Hit ‘Banned’ During CSAT Exam Season

SEVENTEEN has consistently released incredibly catchy songs over the years, and their recent track, “God of Music” from the album ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’ is no exception. Despite its release during autumn, it has garnered attention for bringing back a summery vibe.

As expected, the song has quickly climbed the music charts, but it has gone even further by making its way into college campuses. In a recent news article, it was revealed that “God of Music” has now been classified as a “banned” song by students.

The term “banned” in this context relates to the College Scholastic Ability Test, known as CSAT or “Suneung” in South Korea. This standardized test, administered by the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation, plays a crucial role in university admissions in the country. The test is conducted annually on the third Thursday of November, with the upcoming examination scheduled for November 16, 2023.

The decision to label songs as “banned” during this period is often a precaution to ensure that students remain focused on their studies and do not get distracted by catchy tunes in the lead-up to this important examination. As a testament to the power of SEVENTEEN’s music, “God of Music” has joined the ranks of such songs, temporarily considered too irresistible for students preparing for the CSAT.

SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi Shares Cute Interaction with NewJeans

The famed HYBE building certainly has its perks. SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi recently gave fans an intriguing look behind the scenes at HYBE, including details about the company’s artist-only elevator that led to a cute interaction with a younger group.

Hoshi Reveals How HYBE Building Led to Cute Interaction With NewJeans

In a recent episode of “Salon Drip”, Hoshi began discussing the various perks and features at HYBE, such as the impressive standards for ramen at the company. Host Jang Do Yeon asked about the elevators in their office, specifically mentioning the existence of an artist-exclusive elevator.

Hoshi explained that HYBE has just one elevator designated for artists, even though the company houses numerous renowned stars. This often results in a bit of a wait, given the demand.

The SEVENTEEN member delved further into the layout of the building, sharing that there is a separate floor dedicated to artist parking. When artists reach the elevator, it only stops at certain floors, including the artist lounge and recording areas. Due to the limited options and the sheer number of idols using the elevator, it can sometimes mean a substantial wait to get to the main parking area.

Hoshi humorously recounted an unexpected encounter he had due to these elevator logistics. On one occasion, while waiting for the elevator, the doors opened to reveal the members of NewJeans inside. Despite Hoshi’s confident reputation, he described himself as an “introvert” and admitted to feeling quite shy in this situation. Even when the NewJeans members reassured him that it was alright, he decided to wait rather than joining them in the elevator.

Adding a dash of humor to his story, Hoshi playfully pleaded with HYBE’s founder Bang Si Hyuk for an additional elevator to ease the wait times. This amusing anecdote provides fans with a delightful peek into the everyday experiences of K-Pop idols working under one of the industry’s most prominent entertainment companies, HYBE.

SEVENTEEN Soars to New Heights with ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’

K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN continues to establish themselves as one of the biggest names in the industry. With their 11th mini-album SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, the group have taken the industry by storm by setting new records and achieving remarkable milestones.

On Monday, October 23, SEVENTEEN made their highly-anticipated comeback with SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN. The eight-track album served as the group’s return after five months following the release of FML in May.

Although it’s only been months since the group released new music, their latest album still had a meteoric rise to the top of charts, solidifying the group’s status as one of the most influential acts in the industry.

Records set by ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’

Prior to the album’s official release, SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN amassed an astounding 5.2 million pre-orders, setting a new benchmark for Korean acts. Said number also served as the group’s best personal record as their previous album, FML, only recorded 4.64 million copies in pre-orders. Furthermore, with this final total, SEVENTEEN now holds the record for the highest pre-order volume for an album in the history of K-pop.

Meanwhile, the first-day album sales of  SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN are equally impressive as it reached 3.288 million units. This places them second only to their previous release, FML, which achieved 3.99 million first-day sales. In doing so, SEVENTEEN now holds the top two positions for the biggest first-day album sales debuts in the history of the Hanteo chart.

Additionally, the reach of SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN extended far beyond Korea’s borders. According to a report from Naver, the album achieved an all-kill status as it dominated the Japanese iTunes album chart across all genres. Moreover, it also maintained its reign at the top of Line Music’s real-time album chart.

In China, the album sold a total of ¥400,000 digital sales revenue in just 18 hours after its release.

God of Music’ dominates charts

Some of the standout achievements of SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN is also attributed to its title track, God of Music.” Within 24 hours of its release, the track quickly dominated charts such as Genie, and Bugs. What makes this accomplishment even more remarkable is that SEVENTEEN became the first male group to top the Melon Top 100 for 2023, a milestone that speaks volumes about their growing influence and popularity.

Now that “God of Music” debuted at Melon’s Top 100, SEVENTEEN joins NewJeans, IVE, LE SSERAFIM, and G-IDLE as the only idol groups to have a song top the list for 2023.

Outside of the Korean music charts, “God of Music” achieved top rankings on the iTunes “Top Song” chart in an impressive 29 countries and regions. The song’s appeal transcended linguistic and cultural boundaries, finding favor in places like Brazil, the Philippines, and Singapore.

In an interview with Vulture, member Vernon says that the track shows SEVENTEEN’s “true colors.” “We’re just a really fun and bright group in general,” he said. Meanwhile, Joshua added: “It shows our energy, it shows our happiness, it shows our teamwork, it shows our performance skill sets.”

Other songs included in the album are “SOS,” “Diamond Days,” “Back 2 Back,” “Monster,” “Yawn,” and “Headliner.”

SEVENTEEN Actually Sent a Disco Ball Mic To Space for ‘God of Music’ MV

SEVENTEEN has officially returned with a vibrant new album and a dynamic title track that comes with a fun music video. However, there’s one moment in the “God of Music” MV that has been confirmed to be truly out of this world! It has just been revealed that the travelling disco ball mic was truly sent into space, teasing the budget spent on the latest music video!

SEVENTEEN Sends Disco Ball Mic into Space for ‘God of Music’ MV

On October 23, SEVENTEEN delighted fans with their latest album ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’ and the accompanying music video for its title track “God of Music.” While much of the music video was filmed in the picturesque landscapes of Budapest, Hungary, there’s one intriguing scene that stands out.

In a brief segment of the music video, a disco ball mic appears to be floating high in the sky above the ground, transitioning to a scene where it appears to float in outer space. What’s even more fascinating is that this wasn’t created through green screen technology; it’s actual footage captured for the “God of Music” music video!

The unique footage was made possible through a collaboration between PLEDIS Entertainment and a company called Sent Into Space. For their part, Sent Into Space recently shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the original footage on their Twitter account.

Not surprisingly, CARATs have been astonished by the fact that SEVENTEEN had the resources for such a seemingly expensive collaboration, especially for a short part of the music video. The collaboration demonstrates the group’s financial capabilities, which have grown significantly thanks to their remarkable album sales numbers. It also highlights their commitment to delivering high-quality music and visuals to their dedicated fan base.

SEVENTEEN released their latest EP ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’ along with the title track “God of Music” on October 23, 2023.

SEVENTEEN’s Dino Shares True Reason For Renewing His Contract

There is little doubt that being the youngest in a group with 13 members is not easy. However, Dino appears to take it all in stride. The SEVENTEEN maknae recently spoke about his loyalty to the idol group and revealed the true reason why he decided to renew his contract with PLEDIS Entertainment.

DINO Opens Up About Renewing Contract With All 13 SEVENTEEN Members

On October 23, a video featuring SEVENTEEN’s Dino and Mingyu was shared on comedian Shin Dong Yup’s YouTube channel. During the interview, Dino expressed his loyalty to SEVENTEEN and discussed the future of the group.

“I think about [the future] a lot these days,” he said. “We are the first singers to renew our contracts as 13 members, and I contemplate about if we will be together in the future or if we will be separate. I also think about what I want to do.”

Shin Dong Yup inquired about the members’ contemplation of the future, particularly given their recent ninth debut anniversary. Dino took the opportunity to convey the true reason behind his decision to renew his contract with SEVENTEEN, and his response was truly heartwarming.

The reason I renewed my contract with SEVENTEEN is because if I’m not with these members, I don’t think I can enjoy activities as much as I do now. It’s one of the reasons I want to be with SEVENTEEN for a long time. Because of the people, sincerely,” he said.

It truly confirms that Dino is fully committed to the idol group but that doesn’t mean it was an easy decision. In a 2022 interview with Billboard, SEVENTEEN members revealed that the decision to renew their contracts had been a challenging one, causing them significant stress.

Despite the difficulties, all 13 members ultimately chose to renew. It was a decision that brought immense joy to CARATs and guaranteed the group’s bright future. Since then, SEVENTEEN has released several hits including “God of Music”, the title track from their latest album ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’.

SEVENTEEN’s S.coups to Sit Out Promotional Activities for ‘Seventeenth Heaven’

Amidst the excitement for the release of SEVENTEEN’s upcoming 11th mini-album SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, concern sparked among the group’s fandom following a health update about injured leader S.coups.

On Thursday, October 19, PLEDIS Entertainment announced that S.coups won’t be participating in the promotional activities for SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN given his health condition.

In August, the rapper sustained a tear in his left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) while filming for a show. Back then, the agency shared that the idol was immediately taken to the hospital for a comprehensive medical examination.

S.coups’ current condition

According to PLEDIS Entertainment, S.Coups underwent anterior cruciate ligament and anterolateral ligament reconstruction surgery.

Although it’s been two months since the successful surgery, the road to recovery remains a long and challenging one for S.coups.

In their recent update, the label assured fans that the idol has been prioritizing his recovery and rehabilitation, undergoing the necessary treatments and physical therapy.

However, PLEDIS Entertainment disclosed that the artist’s knee is still in a vulnerable state. Moreover, the SEVENTEEN member was also advised to avoid any physical taxing activities to ensure a full recovery.

While S.coups had a strong desire to participate in the group’s activities, the agency decided to not let him go given his condition.

Additionally, they asked for the fans’ understanding given that the decision was made in consultation with medical professionals.

CARATs will wait for SEVENTEEN’s leader

Following the news, fans have taken to social media to express their love and understanding for the rapper’s situation.

Meanwhile, S.coups also personally penned a message for CARATs on Weverse.

“I wanted to participate in activities as much as I could, but I’ll take a break for a while to focus on rehabilitation,” he told them. Furthermore, he also assured fans that he’ll focus on his recovery so he can show a healthier version of him as soon as possible.

Since his injury, S.coups had been on hiatus and even missed the group’s Follow concert in Japan.

As for SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, it will be released on October 23 with “God of Music” as the title track.

SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi Gets Flustered When Asked About Girlfriend

Hoshi might be a senior idol, but the SEVENTEEN member still gets flustered by questions about his love life. In an upcoming appearance on a variety show, Kwon Soon-young was asked if he has ever had a girlfriend and his response was hilariously endearing.

SEVENTEEN Member Hoshi Quickly Dispels Girlfriend Question

Despite their years in the industry, SEVENTEEN can still be flustered when asked about dating. In a recent teaser for the popular variety show “Running Man”, Hoshi was caught off guard by a question about dating, leading to an amusing moment that entertained fans.

“Have you ever had a girlfriend like that?” the host asked. In response, Hoshi said, “Never—I don’t know.”

This cautious response from Hoshi is often seen as an effort to maintain their idol image and not disclose personal details about their dating life. It’s not uncommon for K-Pop idols to keep their dating lives private, as this can impact their fan base. Fans often admire and support their idols, and the prospect of them dating can also create mixed emotions among fans.

Hoshi’s flustered reaction in the teaser is in contrast with soloist Jeon So Mi, who was also asked about her love life during a live broadcast. The “Dumb Dumb” singer had a witty and quick response, claiming she wouldn’t be eating undercooked pasta if she was busy dating.

For K-Pop idols, balancing their personal lives and their public image can be a delicate matter, and they often receive guidance on how to handle personal questions in interviews and variety shows. These moments of hesitation and humor also endear the idols to their fans, as they see their favorite artists navigate the challenges of fame with grace and professionalism.

Hoshi’s “Running Man” episode is set to air on October 22, 2023. In the meantime, SEVENTEEN is also preparing for their latest comeback with the mini-album ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’ on October 23, 2023.

SEVENTEEN Breaks Personal Record for Pre-orders With ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’

SEVENTEEN has still a week before they officially release their upcoming 11th mini-album SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN but it’s already making new personal records for the K-pop boy group.

On Thursday, October 12, album distributor YG PLUS announced that SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN has already recorded a total of 4,673,069 stock pre-orders so far.

For those unfamiliar, stock pre-orders refer to the number of albums that were ordered by fans before its actual release. As a result, said album has set a new career high in SEVENTEEN’s discography. And what makes this achievement even more remarkable is it came just six months after their previous milestone.

Previously, the group’s 10th mini-album FML, which was released in May, recorded 4.64 million copies in pre-orders.

With this feat of SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, it now ranked second among the top 20 albums with the highest stock pre-orders in K-pop history. In the first place is Stray Kids’ 5-Star album with 5,130,000 pre-orders.

Since there’s still roughly 10 days before the official release of SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, fans of SEVENTEEN are hopeful that they’ll rank higher once the pre-order season ends.

Given the pre-order records from SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, charts are declaring that SEVENTEEN is about to surpass 30 million album sales on Circle Chart.

In fact, SEVENTEEN already surpasses 10 million album sales for 2023 even without the count from SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN. According to PLEDIS Entertainment, the “Super” hitmakers have already sold an unprecedented record of 11,043, 625 physical albums, from January to September of 2023 alone.

Impressive year for SEVENTEEN

2023 really appeared to be pivotal for SEVENTEEN.

In terms of group album releases, their two comebacks for 2023, FML and SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, were both setting records. Aside from group albums, the comeback of SEVENTEEN’s subunit BSS also topped local and international charts.

According to streaming platform, BSS and SEVENTEEN dominated the 2023 charts.

Apart from music, the group also proved their entertainment skills through a number of variety shows.

As of writing,  Jeonghan and Dino are part of the travel program Magic Lamp. Meanwhile,  Seungkwan participated in the Netflix survival show The Devil’s Plan and Joshua and Hoshi participated in Bro Marble.

Moreover, Jun also starred in the Chinese drama Exclusive Fairytale. To which he won a “Rising Star of the Year” award.

Additionally, SEVENTEEN has also finished shooting Nana’s Tour, the group’s version of Youth Over Flowers with PD Na Yeong Seok. Details about the show’s release are yet to be announced.
