MONSTA X YouTube Channel Gets Hacked … By SpaceX?

The cyber attack on Starship Entertainment’s official YouTube channels sent shockwaves through the K-pop community on March 4, as fans and industry insiders alike grappled with the unprecedented breach of security. Although it looks like the channels have been changed into SpaceX accounts, this is actually the work of a hacker!

Several YouTube Channels Hijacked By SpaceX?

The targeted channels, which represent some of the agency’s most prominent artists including MONSTA X, IVE, and CRAVITY, were swiftly compromised, resulting in a flurry of activity as the agency scrambled to address the situation.

The severity of the hack became apparent as users discovered that the channels had been rebranded under the name “SpaceX,” with all existing videos unceremoniously purged from the platform. Instead, the hacker took advantage of the channels’ substantial reach by live streaming Space X launches, a move that further underscored the audacity and strategic nature of the attack.

Amidst the chaos, reports surfaced indicating that the hacker had reached out to Starship Entertainment with a list of demands in exchange for restoring access to the compromised channels and reinstating the deleted content. The agency now finds itself at a crossroads, faced with the daunting prospect of negotiating with the perpetrator in a bid to salvage its digital assets and protect the interests of its artists.

Starship Entertainment Responds to Hacker

The stakes are undeniably high, as the loss of the channels’ extensive catalog of videos would also represent a significant setback for Starship Entertainment and its roster of talents. These videos not only serve as a vital platform for engaging with fans and promoting new releases but also represent a tangible record of the artists’ creative endeavors and achievements over the years.

In response to the crisis, Starship Entertainment has wasted no time in mobilizing its resources and collaborating closely with YouTube to initiate the recovery process. The agency’s swift and decisive action also underscores its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of its digital infrastructure and preserving the trust and confidence of its artists and supporters.

“Regarding the hacking of our artists’ official YouTube channels today, we are actively working with YouTube to resolve the issue and are currently in the recovery process. We will do our best to restore all content as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this unexpected disruption.”

As the recovery efforts unfold, the K-pop community remains on edge, anxiously awaiting updates and hoping for a swift resolution to the crisis. MONSTA X’s Shownu Makes Runway Debut at New York Fashion Week

Make way for model Shownu! Last February 14, Shownu of the K-pop boy group Monsta X left fans in awe with his jaw-dropping visuals as he made his runway debut at the New York Fashion Week.

In one of his looks, the K-pop idol flaunted his toned body in a black cropped jacket. Notably, the stint proved that his versatility as a performer goes beyond his singing and dancing abilities. 

 

To note, Shownu, whose real name is Son Hyun-Woo, made an appearance as an ambassador and a model for the Concept Korea 2024 F/W. For those unaware, Concept Korea is a platform given to Korean fashion designers to showcase their works internationally, and this time, in the prestigious fashion event. 

Another testament to his global influence, Shownu also appeared in Concept Korea’s global campaign video which was broadcasted in the ever popular Times Square.

During the stint, the Monsta X leader expressed his gratitude with the rare opportunity. According to South Korean reports, he shared that it was fun to have experienced a new field he had never tried before. “It was a very meaningful time to participate as an ambassador representing Korean fashion,” he added.

After seeing Shownu excel in another field apart from being an idol, fans, especially Monsta X’s fanbase, Monbebes, can’t help but be proud of the singer.

On social media, Monbebes showered the artist with positive comments as they trended the hashtag #Shownu_NY_FashionWeek. “You did an amazing job on the runway. You are an icon and a legend,” one fan wrote.

Moreover, other fans also complimented him as he showed an amazing performance as a model. “That’s how you make your NYFW runway debut,” one said. Meanwhile another called him the main event of the show.

Another fan took the time to appreciate the idol’s progress over the years as he went from being an invited guest who watched on the sidelines in 2016 to becoming an ambassador who walked the runway in 2024.

In other news, Shownu is also set to make his musical theater debut in the upcoming production The Great Comet which will begin its run in the last week of March.

EXO’s Xiumin, SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan Show Support for Enlistment of MONSTA X’s Hyungwon

Hyungwon of K-pop group MONSTA X  has officially embarked on his military service on Tuesday, November 14.  And several of his friends in the industry,  including EXO’s Xiumin and SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan, showed their support for him. 

Prior to his enlistment, Hyungwon has been updating his fans about his preparation. For instance, he revealed that it was co-member Shownu who shaved his head. Moreover, he also shared photos of him sporting his new buzz cut on his Instagram, jesting that his hair now dries in only three seconds. 

On the day of his enlistment, the idol was sent off by fellow MONSTA X member Shownu and I.M, alongside Hyungwon’s CEO-dol Mart co-stars EXO’s Xiumin, Choi Won Myeong, and Lee Sae On. 

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan, who was in Paris at the time, also sent his well wishes for Hyungwon’s enlistment. During a Weverse live show, he revealed that he asked the MONSTA X member to send him a photo of him in his new haircut. Initially, Hyungwon sent Jeonghan a photo that he already uploaded on his Instagram. But Jeonghan requested a new set of photos, leading him to use one of them as his wallpaper. 

These interactions delighted fans a lot as it reflects the close friendship that Hyungwon has with other idols. Notably, both EXO’s Xiumin and SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan have also appeared in the web variety series Mr. Chae the Castaway sas guests. 

Hyungwon begins his military service

After completing his basic training, the MONSTA X member will serve as an active duty soldier. 

In a series of posts, Hyungwon sent several messages to his fans, expressing his commitment to complete military service in good health. “As always, I’ll work hard and stay healthy. I’ll do well and when I return, I’ll be strong and reliable enough to block the wind easily. Let’s greet each other warmly when that time comes,” he said. 

On the idol’s behalf, agency Starship Entertainment also left a message for fans of MONSTA X: “Please look forward to the cool return of MONSTA X [as a group] when I come back.” In the statement, Hyungwon also promised that he will show a “more mature side” of him once all members of MONSTA X gathered again. 

Notably, Hyungwon is the fifth member of MONSTA X to enlist, following Shownu, Minhyuk, Joohoney, and Kihyun. Only their youngest member, I.M has yet to enlist in the military.

MONSTA X’s Hyungwon Gets Head Shaved by Shownu

Hyungwon is officially enlisting for mandatory military service and the MONSTA X member shared his preparation for his enlistment. For starters, Chae Hyungwon posted photos of how he got his head shaved by Shownu along with images of the rest of the group sending him off to the military.

The official MONSTA X Twitter account shared new photos of Hyungwon getting his head shaved by group leader Shownu. In addition to that, the account posted images of Hyungwon with Shownu and group maknae I.M. as they sent him off for military service.

“As always, I’ll work hard and stay healthy,” Hyungwon wrote. “I’ll do well and when I return, I’ll be strong and reliable enough to block the wind easily. Let’s greet each other warmly when that time comes.”

Hyungwon previously announced his military enlistment back in October. The MONSTA X member wrote a heartfelt letter to MONBEBEs confirming his enlistment.

“I think I’m more worried of monbebe,” he wrote. “You are always worried of me when the wind blows but once I come back, my goal is to be strong and healthy so I am able to block the wind blowing at Monbebe what I want to say thank you since you have made me grew so much that I can go through this time apart healthily.”

“Thank you and I love you so much. I’m gonna be the person who’s able to return more of your love once I come back. So monbebe cant be sick and need to be healthy, right? I really hope so. Ah and I will be out on May 13th,” he continued.

Hyungwon is the fifth member of MONSTA X to enlist for military service. Joohoney and Kihyun had both enlisted for mandatory military service earlier this year.

Minhyuk might be serving in the military but that hasn’t stopped the MONSTA X member from performing like a proper idol. Lee Min-hyuk recently put on a great performance at a special military event and he wasn’t alone.

MONSTA X’s Minhyuk, GOT7’s Jinyoung, and former Wanna One members Ong Seongwu and Ha Sungwoon are all 3rd generation K-Pop idols who are currently serving in the military. However, they recently had the opportunity to showcase their talents at the Ground Forces Festival, also known as the 2023 Army Fest.

Despite their absence from their respective groups due to military enlistment, these talented idols came together to perform as part of the same group of soldiers. They treated the audience to dance covers of popular K-Pop songs, creating an entertaining and memorable experience.

Their dance covers included hit songs such as NewJeans’ “Super Shy” and LE SSERAFIM’s “Eve, Psyche, & The Bluebeard’s Wife.” Additionally, each member had the chance to showcase their own group’s iconic tracks. GOT7’s “Hard Carry,” Wanna One’s “Energetic,” and MONSTA X’s “Shoot Out” were all featured in their performances.

Fans of these talented idols appreciated their dedication to providing entertainment even while fulfilling their mandatory military service. It’s clear that their passion for music and performance continues to shine, even in a different setting. The official MONSTA X social media accounts offered a glimpse at the group’s light stick Ver 3 design. The new light stick features a sleek white wand with a gem-shaped top that not only lights up but also displays various colors and the group’s emblem. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this update, and the opening sales for the new light stick are set to commence on September 27, 2023.

Previously, MONSTA X had introduced two versions of their light stick. The first version was launched on May 14, 2017, to commemorate the group’s second debut anniversary. This initial design was a collaborative effort by the group members, produced by Copan Global, and officially licensed by Starship Entertainment.

The Monsta X Lightstick, affectionately known as the Mondoongie, is renowned for its exquisite aesthetics and customization options. MONBEBEs can open their Mondoongie and personalize its interior to suit their preferences.

The original light stick featured a black handle and a pink transparent dome housing the group’s logo. In the second version, while maintaining the overall design, some details were refined. The color of the dome transitioned from pink to white, and the handle evolved from black to dark grey. Additionally, the shape and color of the packaging were updated.

MONSTA X fans can look forward to the Ver 3 light stick, which promises to be a visually striking addition to their collection. SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan Embarrassed When Caught ‘Flirting’ With MONSTA X’s Hyungwon

Jeonghan is the first guest on Hyungwon‘s new YouTube series “Mr. Chae, the Castaway”. So it’s no surprise that the SEVENTEEN member immediately showed off his bond with the MONSTA X lead dancer. In the episode, Yoon Jeonghan repeatedly “flirted” with Hyungwon and then became embarrassed after watching the show.

The closeness between Jeonghan and Hyungwon was evident early on in the episode. In a delightful interaction, Hyungwon revealed to Jeonghan that he was the show’s first guest on “Mr. Chae the Castaway“. In response, Jeonghan playfully said that he would have been disheartened if anyone else had been the first guest. This marked the beginning of Jeonghan’s “flirty” banter with Hyungwon.

As the episode unfolded, a tender moment ensued when Hyungwon extended his arm to shield Jeonghan while driving. Noticing Hyungwon’s hand in front of him, Jeonghan reached out, and their hands intertwined in a heartwarming gesture of affection, beautifully reciprocated by Hyungwon.

Monsta X’s Hyungwon and Seventeen’s Jeonghan Show Off Their Friendship in ‘Mr. Chae the Castaway’

Fans of K-pop boy groups SEVENTEEN and MONSTA X knew how close the two acts are, with many of its members even hanging out together in their free times. And recently, MONSTA X’s Hyungwon and SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan gave fans a glimpse of their tight bond in the web series Mr. Chae the Castaway. 

 

On Friday, September 15, Hyungwon’s web series featured Jeonghan as its guest for the third episode. For the first two episodes of Mr. Chae the Castaway, the MONSTA X singer has his relatives as his guests, making Jeonghan the first idol to appear in the show. 

“It’d be sad if other people came before me,” the SEVENTEEN vocalist said.

Even at the start of the episode, the close bond between the two was already evident. When asked by Hyungwon if there’s anything he’d like to eat, Jeonghan said that he only needs to see his hyung. 

Both idols also said that they really care a lot for each other that they’d come running if the other called them. 

One of the scenes that really delighted fans was when Hyungwon was protecting the SEVENTEEN member while driving and Jeonghan held his hands. 

Interestingly, Jeonghan’s antics also shone through as he persuaded Hyungwon to try the tallest bungee jumping in South Korea. In all of his idol career, Hyungwon said that he has never tried doing scary activities like that. But he pushed through as the younger idol promised that he’ll do it with him. 

After that, the two also reminisced about their busy idol lives. Hyungwon even said that as long as Jeonghan got some healing through his show, then it’s alright. 

At one point, the SEVENTEEN member explained that the reason he liked the older idol so much is because they don’t argue when they’re talking. 

Hyungwon and Jeonghan’s friendship over the years

Prior to Jeonghan’s guesting in Mr. Chae the Castaway, his friendship with Hyungwon has been known to their fans. 

In a 2020 show, the SEVENTEEN singer said that Hyungwon is someone he’s comfortable to call at any time. 

Moreover, the two have talked about each other on several accounts. In fact, Jeonghan even quipped that the MONSTA X member is his “one-sided love.” 

Moreover, the two only have praises for each other. “I think of Jeonghan as a very good person. He’s a really nice friend,” Hyungwon said. 

Another way that the two idols bond together is participating in TikTok dance challenges. 

 

And fans of the two idols can rejoice as the Mr. Chae the Castaway episode with Jeoghan has several parts. Its fourth episode, which will see the two napping and preparing for barbeque, will air on September 22.
